My personal belief is in annihilation, but my chronically disabled friend says that he would be the one judging God for everything it has put him through, and not the other way around.

I also believe in annihilation, but a part of me wants to believe in god so that he can judge the people who have committed injustices.
A part of me also despises god, he's welcome to convince me otherwise, but where is he?!?!?

!No offense to anyone who believes in him though!

Don't have any fucks to give at that point. I mean, I'll learn something that I was apparently wrong about... but outside of that, zero fucks to give and damn if I'll be questioned at that point by anyone. Fuck that noise!

No offense taken. I do believe and I ask Him this question constantly. I think I'm being judged now. Fine. I can deal with it. But why those I've hurt? Why so much evil in the world? Nothing about our existence makes sense.

Exactly! I often wonder why there is so much evil in the world, and honestly, I'm not satisfied with the usual religious answers. Lately, I've been feeling uneasy and at the same time, my mind keeps coming up with the theory that god might not be who we think he is. If he exists at all….🎭

I'd answer like this most likely since god doesn't exist.

"For a being that should surpass any intelligence gauge that we can imagine, you are being petty and idiotic by condemning me to eternal torture for the small act of taking my own life.

Surely a being of your caliber would have found something else as a punishment/reform rather than what you'd hear a mad 8 year old say as a threat; oh wait, that exactly who your creators were, weren't they? middle aged men with the emotional intelligence of a child! Men who wanted control over women, their bodies, other people of different ethnicities, etc.

Therefore you share the intelligence of your creators, pretty much rendering you braindead. No wonder you condemn people to eternal torture when the only "crime" they commit is taking their own life; you are an extension of your creators and your creators projected their own feelings onto you.

Your creators couldn't understand why other people would opt out of life and therefore they have made suicide a sin to be able to cope with their lack of perspective and intelligence."

Yes this is why I think suicide is considered a sin in most religions.
It's because the idiots don't understand it but if they gave any thought about it......they would still not understand it, HOWEVER they would realize that their inability to understand suicide means that they are idiots; so to not bruise their own egos they have made suicide a sin.

Goes without saying that you should always be armed/have a way to defend yourself because idiots like this run the fucking world and you being objectively smarter or wiser than them means jack shit, I know this is off topic but just saying, they know they are fucking braindead, they only need brawn to subdue you, they don't need a brain, we can have both.

I'm sorry but this isn't accurate. As a catholic I feel compelled to defend my faith. There are explicit teachings on how mental health can affect a suicide victim and that God may still provide salvation. The judgment is up to Him only. Each religion has something similar.

However I do acknowledge individual members of any church may preach a different message and cause confusion.

There are people who believe God doesn't give anyone anything they can't handle. This is, obviously, not true. An acquaintance of mine blew her brains out a couple of years ago due to unbearable nerve pain. I suffer recurring, treatment resistant depression with episodes lasting multiple years and leaving me bedbound. Up to 50 percent of depression sufferers may be treatment resistant (which says more about the treatments than the sufferers.) Many more severe mental health diagnoses also exist. There's even one where the sufferer feels like they're burning alive. Another where the sufferer believes they're dead. So I would ask, who has more to answer for, me, or a Creator who—given all the suffering and injustice in the world—seems psychopathic.

I agree, people on here seem to have no problem disrespecting religious faith (typically only Christian) with zero consideration that there may be practicing SaSu members.

Well I didn't say which god personally, just an arbitrary one that would fit this description, which would be most gods, from mythical greek ones to our today ones.

Religious folks often have no problem disrespecting other religions or atheists and agnostics. What goes around comes around.

Almost everyone believes their belief IS correct and everyone else is wrong. This causes lots of problems between people. Even people who purport to believe in the same God, via the same religion, have problems with the way some people worship or believe in their particular God.

OK, smart guy, show me a few posts here on SaSu of Christians bashing anybody for being a non-believer. You can't because you won't find them. The old intolerant, belligerent religious person trope doesn't hold up when brought to the real world. On the other hand non-believers and atheists have no problem using derogatory, and disrespectful words towards the religious, as evidenced in this very post where believers were referred to as idiots, as well as many other posts I've seen on here bashing believers.

You've got to be kidding, right? It "doesn't hold up when brought to the real world"? I can't even believe you could type that with a serious face.

I'm not saying it is right to bash religious people either. I'm just saying religious people routinely see it as their mission to recruit new believers, and as such, if you don't join them you are seen as against them. At a minimum, religious folk are often condescending to non-believers and are passive-aggressive to them.

Sure, there are also atheists who go around trying to bash religious people too. I don't support that. But you cannot honestly deny that religious folk give as good as they get in terms of bashing people for not believing the same thing as them.

Religions, especially Islam and Christianity dominate the world in terms of population... I get tired, especially here in the USA, of the radical Christians trying to claim they are being oppressed and afraid to be openly religious like they aren't often the ones trying to outlaw non-Christian religions. And, hell, within Christianity they tear each other apart... Catholics vs Protestants... almost all other forms of Christian vs Catholic... Evangelicals vs whomever... and then there's Christians vs Muslims vs Jewish people... when ALL of them are meant to be worshiping the same God, but just can't seem to get on the same page about it.

You are still just saying stuff, ie.. words. They are meaningless without context. All you've stated is basically how you FEEL things are. Your feelings are not truth, even though im sure you really really want it to be. There is nothing wrong with preaching your faith to others, it is the same as prominent atheists like Richard Dawkins or Matt Dillihunty vehemently prostlethizing at every turn how there is no God. They cannot prove it yet they profess it as absolute truth. I for one dont know about you but I have seen people who are simply preaching their faith to anyone who is WILLING to listen attacked, shouted at, spit at, and cursed at. I have never, not once seen a Christian do the same to a non-believer. And before you go there, let me stop you. Im speaking of modern times, so let's keep it relevant.
