I'm having real trouble here. Haven't showered in a week, can barely get out of bed, missed 2 days at school and an important exam.
I don't see my psychiatrist until december and I don't have him on call since I'm getting help via public healthcare.
I've been taking my meds at inconsistent times (8.am. - 11a.m.) because it's too damn hard to go get a fucking glass of water.

I've been on lexapro (10mg) for about 2 months and a half, noticed slight improvement but lately it's been hell, I don't know what is happening, I don't know what can I do. THIS SHIT DOESN'T FEEL NORMAL AT ALL.

Should I take 2 pills instead of one, or what?. Any help is well received, I hate this shit. Oh my god. 🫠

P.d: any tips for getting rid of B.O. are also well received (in times like these a shower isn't enough imo).

Lexapro is a medication that not only requires several months to see therapeutic effects, but also has a relatively small population who can properly digest it (the figure I was told was 16% but I may be wrong.) Given that its been a few months, you should be seeing some improvement if it works for you. If you are getting a lot of crazy side effects like brain fog and confusion, I'd probably call your psych or schedule an appointment sooner for doing something about it. If you stop taking it without tapering, it could be even worse for a few weeks.

As for dealing with BO, find a good deodorant and scrub with an exfoliating sponge. Shaving your pits might help with washing as well. Wash your clothes, and maybe air out your room if it lingers.

I saw some improvement prior, but I feel like around a week ago it just suddenly disappeared completely, I went from being functional to completely messed up in the span of only a couple of days. I stopped getting any side effects around the 1 month mark.

Thanks a lot for the advice, it's really appreciated <3.

i really don't know a lot so i'm sorry if i say anything wrong, but i also used to be on lexapro and i noticed that it worsened my depression. i've tried many ssris and none of them have really worked for me, so i was put onto mood stabilizers instead (i don't think they really worked either). have you tried any other ssris, and if so, what were your experiences with those? it could just be that antidepressants don't work for you.

So far I've only tried lexapro, psych told me it was normal to have episodes and basically told me to fuck off and see him in 3 months. I feel like that bastard only wants me to get benzos. Last time I pulled my medical records I saw that he prescribed me and picked up the meds himself.

On second thought maybe I should just go to a private clinic instead of praying that public healthcare won't fail me this time.

Lexapro did absolutely fuck all for my depression but still gave me all of the side effects. I hated that shit. You need to switch to another medication if it is not helping/ making you feel worse.

Do not change your dosage without consulting your doctor. Also, this could make you run out of pills early and then you are really screwed.

Second time on Lexapro here. Either it hits very quickly (within 2 weeks) or it doesn't do much. It works better for anxiety than for depression.

Warning, you need to take it consistent and don't change dosis or stop abruptly. It's very prone to side effects and/or withdrawals. Perhaps you could start slowly tapering already or wait till your next appointment with your psychiatrist about tapering or switching medication.

If it get worser in meanwhile, perhaps you could ask for information/help on this forum:

Take care 🍀
