Hi, I may be a bit of a boomer, I thought about starting a penpal chain. I thought it would be a way to write long letters with a real pen and paper, get excited about when that letter will arrive, and maybe even motivate my friends who have trouble leaving the house to go for a short walk. There are definitely those who want to remain anonymous, and I respect that, I thought that letters could be sent to the post office instead of your home address. What do you think about that?

Yeah so I'm in my 50s and remember the daily anticipation and excitement to get an actual letter.

I used post office delivery long ago (it's called poste restant I think) when I was an illegal immigrant and didn't have an address. Getting mail that was was easy enough provided you can get to the post office.

The only thing is they always asked for some ID to show you were the addressee. So to pull this off folks would need to share their real names.

That can be resolved if you use a post office box, but you have to rent those.

Or, if you're friends with a shopkeeper or someone with an address that doesn't mind getting letters for you, they can be addressed with any name and still get delivered.

All in all is possible... maybe others here have suggestions too...

Hi, I could be your pen-pal if you are a female. I'm a woman and I'm just comfortable being the pen-pal of someone the same sex as me.

To be honest sounds lonely.

I love computers and the digital world, don't get me wrong. But It'd be quite charming having a pen pal.

If only I didn't have a TERRIBLE letter...
