Is there a word or phrase for this? I don't really plan to get to the point of dying quite yet but I don't mind if i screw it up and die anyways. I just want to have a hands on experience for the sensation if that makes sense. That way when/if I decide to ctb then I'll know generally what to expect and to feel. Has anyone else wanted to do this or actually done it for this reason?

Yeah I've done a little practice and unfortunately haven't passed out in the noose yet though I plan to keep trying. I will get this partial hanging right even if it kills me :-p

I suppose I can understand the motivation to want to feel "prepared", although obviously you should be very careful, and also weigh up the risks, since of course, something like this could go very wrong.....
Ultimately you have to decide upon your own actions...

Note : As always, please note that I strongly encourage you to seek help with whatever is troubling you. With the right help things can improve. There are many sources of help if you look and reach out. Please seek assistance in any and every way possible. You alone must decide upon your actions and take full responsibility for them, and you should always favour seeking help and keeping out of harm's way.

I just attempted partial suspension by hanging, it felt great. You can pass out within seconds. I tied a knot in the middle so that it pushes against my carotid nerve.

In what way for does it feel great? So far for me it's been painfully uncomfortable lol not that I expected hanging to feel like puppy kisses

Don't worry I'm well aware of the risks. And yes, I've made several attempts at getting help and it just hasn't worked out. I'm not patient enough to keep trying forever to maybe find a successful coping method and then taking years to also maybe feel some kind of peace. Thank you for your concern though :)

No not while doing it. I felt great afterwards, knowing its definitely a possibility. I dont even care about any risks

Do you mean you put the knot on the left or right side of your neck?

In the middle

You tied extra knots in the rope specifically to press on the carotid arteries like people do with padding? Is that what you're saying? If so, what kind of knots? I'm assuming the main knot that you hang from is a slip knot

I believe it's called suicide rehearsal. You can do it physically, as you plan(ned?) to, or you can do it mentally through research by browsing the internet, reading certain books, etc.

Thank you! It's nice to know there's a term for it and that it isn't uncommon with the suicidal

The only thing that I've experienced doing this was extreme discomfort except once where I started to pass out and then stood up because of the awareness of what was happening.
