Every now and then you cross my mind
like some ghostly visage from a portrait lost in time
wreaking heaps of hapless havoc of howling holes in my head
creating chasms of cruel chaos crusting my cold heart
in constant aching for your presence
decaying in absence
fighting the urge for more in convalescence.
A worn, weary, wandering soul stuck between this world we're forced to dwell in
and the one made for us, by us, in us alone
searching for sheer signs of your life
in tracing thine, erasing mine.
As uncertain beginnings turn to unpleasant endings
as our electrifying ecstasy evaporates in these flames of fatal fallacy
questioning questions that questioned our question when nothing else mattered
answering to answers that answered themselves as our hourglass shattered.
To our desired destination we never arrive
our single hopeless hope forever denied
now sleepwalking past this hollow hall of meandering memories
haunted by a past too dear to lose
and a future never here to peruse
second guessing seconds like people passing me by on this lonely night
cutting myself to pieces amidst piercing gazes setting me alight
regretting to remember your sweet soothing smile filling me with dangerous delight.
Fading away I see your shadow approach me
breaking me free from these chains of pain
bringing me closer to the only glory I ever longed to attain.
This apocalypse begins as we watch the world we built for ourselves collapse to dust
taking one last look into each other's eyes as they lock in lust
our hands and hearts in trust as we finally combust
