I too have accidentally caused hurt and pain. I too have withdrawn my love because I felt they didn't deserve it, because they hurt me. But the difference is, and it's an important distinction, I never, ever meant to. Some people seem to do it deliberately, and it's that which I just can't understand.

I connect with this a lot. I went through a thing with a person which ended like two months ago and he just crushed me so much without any reason to.

Why tell someone you love them when you never meant it? Why play with people's emotions like that?

There's just some people that lack more empathy than others, and others who are more sensitive and vulnerable to these things than others.

An emotionally sensitive person can never be around one who lacks empathy and is emotionally disconnected from others. It's just disaster and tragedy all around.

I'm going through it right now, once again. Every damn time I open my heart, someone wrecks it.
I hope you're feeling better now after a couple of months? I know these things take time and right now it feels like a permanent feeling.

Sorry to hear another story of love and the pain it can bring. Hang in there.

According to my ex, she did it because as long as I loved her she couldn't let me go. So she decided it was "best" for me if she lied, gaslighted, betrayed, and generally pushed me away and pretended like it never happened. That way she wouldn't feel guilty. Guess it worked.

It isn't difficult to understand any of this. People hurt other people because it makes them feel powerful.

It usually isn't terribly hard to identify assholes & avoid "putting your heart in the palm of their hand". Even folks with zero self-esteem can do it to a significant extent, the problem is that they were brainwashed into believing they don't deserve to be treated with respect in their formative years.

It isn't difficult to understand any of this. People hurt other people because it makes them feel powerful.

It usually isn't terribly hard to identify assholes & avoid "putting your heart in the palm of their hand". Even folks with zero self-esteem can do it to a significant extent, the problem is that they were brainwashed into believing they don't deserve to be treated with respect in their formative years.

It may not be difficult for you or others to understand, but it's certainly difficult for me. It's become obvious to myself that I'm too blind to see what others can clearly see.

What to do about it, or how to fix it, I have no idea. It's not like I can put on a pair of glasses and suddenly see it. Hindsight is also a wonderful thing.
