if i knew there was an afterlife and this life had a purpose, i wouldn't ctb since i fear being reborn over and over again.
if this life is the only one we have, i would ctb instantly, why even caring if its all meaningless, would do some drugs, hug those who helped me and then i would ctb..

what would you do?sorry about the grammar, is it were or was?thx @TimeToBiteTheDust

If I knew for sure there was a prize for enduring life's bs I would for sure stick it out, and same for if I knew CTB was a ticket to hell.

if there was for sure zero Afterlife consequences for CTB I think a lot more people in the world would do it.

It's something I know bothers some people. But it's like asking if their was no death would you still commit suicide.
If death is inevitable. Nobody has a choice sadly everyone will pass. Then an afterlife would mean we didn't have a choice.

I would want to kill myself even more, if there was an afterlife. Suicide would be a one way ticket to a new existence.

If there was no afterlife I'd still want to ctb. If there was an afterlife I'd want a few more details on it before fully committing to ctb.

I know that suicide is my inevitable fate so either way but knowing 100% there is no after life I would feel so much more peace about going and SI would be way less.

if i'm being honest, one of my main reasons for ctb is because i hope there's no afterlife.

but if there is, i'd still do it. reincarnation leaves the chance of me being born into a better life (or a worse one). if there's a punishment for suicide? not ideal, but i think i can manage. textbook burning for all eternity hell or peaceful heaven? both sound the same to me, and if we all still die, ctb or not, there's no need to be afraid of the afterlife (or lack of one). it's waiting for us regardless.

I don't think it changes anything for me. I hope there isn't an afterlife though, the idea of not existing is kind of nice.

Am I the only one here who makes ctb decisions without bringing in afterlife?
I kinda look at things in intervals.
I think every stage is in itself important enough.
Besides afterlife is vague and has no scientific proof, yet.

It really depends on the kind of afterlife and the punishment for suicide. But if there was no afterlife, then I would feel no remorse at all in my suicide.

However, if we are talking about the abrahamic idea of an afterlife, where suicide is a sin that is punished in a hell worse than any earthen torture, then I would for sure live this life to the best of my ability in the hopes of getting to paradise.

Same with Dharmic religions, specially Buddhism, where you can take a path towards breaking out of the cycle of rebirth.

Even if living a long life is extremely painful, I really don't want to be stuck with reincarnation or eternal torture. There's no way that I'll kill myself knowing for sure that something worse awaits me. The entire point of my CTB is to be freed from pain.

If I knew there was an after life and it was better than this, I'd do it much sooner. If I knew there was an after life it was worse than this, or was good but I'd be punished for CTB and be terrible I'd probably stay alive a bit longer.

Hell, that's even better! Ctb without afterlife, I mean.
In between falling asleep and waking up there's a period of time where you actually sleep. Six - eight hours pass in roughly five seconds.
It's sort of like turning a PC on. There are those few seconds where you see "press f8 to enter bios". Waking up is like watching windows/Linux turning on - the logo, the loading screen. The time where "press f8 to enter bios"?
Sure, strictly speaking, the PC is on, but it's "unconscious". Kind of like people in a serious coma waking up to discover they were unconscious for a week. To them it was a blink. I vote ctb without afterlife.

That is how I feel about it too. Even if there was a heaven and I went there, I could never enjoy it if I knew that somewhere else, people were being tormented in a hellish existence forever. If I ended up in hell, at least I would be mentally prepared for it. Nonexistence would be preferable, but like you said, whatever happens after this life will always be there waiting for us. I might as well get on the bus and see what's there.

Either way, afterlife or no afterlife, I would still want to CTB and get it over with.

Im as certain as possible there is no afterlife...even if there was the omnipotent god who allows babies to die due to a lack of food would be in no position to judge ya

Or even worse, a god that sits back and watches while children get raped and abused by sick pieces of shit and does nothing. If a god exists, then he/she/it has no reason to claim moral superiority beyond "might makes right". I would gladly tell this god to go fuck itself in person.

No afterlife, no ctb.. unless it was done on impulse to spite others. Kind of hard for me to imagine such a scenario though, but that's just me.

Honestly, I'm kind of hoping for no afterlife. I'm not really feeling up to existing in any capacity. I'm just tired of it, and as the kids say, "I can't even!". Just make it all stop. Please just make it all freaking STOP. PLEASE!

I would certainly not CTB if an afterlife were proven. However, seeing how in reality there isn't one, I'm not going to hold back over superstition.

Our brains are computers and nothing more. If you took your computer and smashed it to pieces with a baseball bat and tried to turn it on, it won't. No matter how hard and how many times you press the 'on' button, it just won't turn on again. Ever.

You are much like that computer, so relax if you're afraid of hell or whatever. Hell is a cynical ploy by the catholic church to scare the the proles into submission and to keep attendance and tax flowing.

Well said. Regardless of what happens after death, we're all going to find out sooner or later. I'd rather take control of how I make that discovery than leave it in the hands of chance. Afterlife or no afterlife, ctb it is.

One of my biggest things is there isn't an afterlife. If I'm going to do it I would love to watch over my loved ones. Expesially my little brothers. I would love to be there for them in some way. I don't ever want them forgetting that they mean everything to their sister.

why trusting science for all our troubles while science cant solve your problems. if science was that trustworthy you wouldn't decide to CTB out of despair.
