Discussion If there was a painless death pill...

How happy would you be? Just knowing you could take it at any given moment and die without any pain. Fall asleep and never wake up.

I can't even explain how much joy this would give me. I would probably meet up with all my close friends one last time, go get dinner with them and end it with a party or something. I'd also make sure to have a talk with everyone I care about one last time, just to end on good terms with everyone. I don't want anyone to remember their last encounter with me as negative.

When everything is done, I'd probably feel true bliss while getting into bed, taking the pill and closing my eyes.

I envy the countries that allow assisted suicide to be more attainable. The United States access to it is nothing but a bunch of jumps and hoops. It is everyone born right to opt when it's time to move on. If such pill was around for purchase, I'd have one on hand. Not saying I'd pop it immediately, but it'd be there for my choice.

Heh, I know what you mean. It might as well not exist to me though, because (like you said) access is an issue and I live in a strict country.

If there was a death pill that is:
1) Very accessible
2) Easy to hide and obtain.
3) 100% reliable (or even 99.9%)

Then I would be very ecstatic, and may even consider giving up my method (which is very reliable but not peaceful at all) in exchange for that one pill. However, in reality, most likely if there is such a poison, it would be hard to access, tightly regulated, and even then, only usage for very specific situations (like executions, death with dignity, etc.)

I think that's actually a good point. Just knowing you have easy access to a death pill at all times would probably make you feel better. When shit gets really bad, you'll always have a good way out.

Not having that certainty is what brings most of us down, I think. Almost all suicide methods are dangerous and have a chance of survival, which is kinda scary if you think about it. If you really want to go, it's not easy. Unless you are someone who isn't afraid to jump from a really high place or something.
