But without all the shitty side effects like liver damage and loss of fine motor coordination, of course.

I'm literally a better person when drunk. For the 1/2 hour to 2 hours it lasts, at least.
Slow to anger, almost zero anxiety, not aggravated by anything, no sensory issues that make me want to scratch my skin off, just generally chill as fuck.

I'm still ADHD. I'm still slow and easily distracted, make stupid mistakes, forget shit, and have to play a fucking rune trial on Doom 27 times before I get it, but it's ok, ya know?

And socially, it's almost like I'm a normal person. I say shit, sometimes it's stupid, but again, it's ok. No one died because I was socially awkward in some mmo or at a party my sibling invites me to to try to get me out of the damn house.

I've literally never regretted anything I did drunk, though I've regretted plenty while sober.

Why the fuck can't I be like that sober?

If there's a med that can do this, that fucking Medicaid will pay for, I want to know about it.

I see people referring to pregabalin high as being like feeling drunk. I haven't tried it but can see why it might feel that way. It's uses in cases of alcohol withdrawal I think. Tolerance does build quickly as far as I'm aware though. Like with benzos. Not sure how it impacts health by comparison to alcohol. I do know I hate hangovers though. Actually don't think I could handle it in my current state of health.
You could look on Erowid website for accounts of taking pregabalin. There are many. It's a grest resource for sharing and reading of different medicstion and drug experiences.

Yeah, benzos are like that but you build tolerance and then they're addictive and withdrawal is rough, like you physically *have* to do a slow taper for medical reasons if you've been on them long-term, you can't stop abruptly.

Weed good for you at all?

I don't know anymore. Haven't had it in over a decade. Only thing I remember is it making me eat too much. Not something my insurance will pay for at any rate.

Gabapentin kinda acts like alcohol in a way but in high doses it's more like heroin. Xanax will give you that blackout like certain alcohol will. I personally just drink Bomb bay sapphire gin to achieve blackout.

Well now you have my attention! :))

Is it the same with pregabalin? I've got pregabalin here but have always been reluctant to try it tbh. Maybe it's time I did. Dosage kind of concerns me though. I'd probably start low (like 50mg-75mg I think) then go from there. I split a 300mg capsule up into 4 doses and poured it into new capsules months ago. Just never plucked up the courage to take any. Instead I've been taking benzos and zolpidem every now and then. Just a couple of days use leaves me with a couple of days rebound shitness. Never used to be this sensitive to drugs at all.

This vibe you are describing, the "it's ok", plus stopping you from doing things you will regret... Some people describe this as the effect of SSRIs, even in small doses. I cannot personally say this, but for some people, SSRIs (or one specific SSRI) do what you are looking for. Sadly, there are no studies telling us who SSRIs help, so I have no way of knowing whether you will be on this list. The withdrawal can be quite unpleasant, though...

I second gabapentin, trying to get back on that at some point soon.

Phenibut is also amazing for me but it has like all the same drawbacks I think since it can be addictive and cause liver damage if you do it too much. Only thing besides gabapentin that makes my toxic shame go away and makes me feel normal though.

Look into kava root. It acts as a GABA receptor agonist (similar mechanism to alcohol), and has similar anxiolytic and mildly euphoric effects, but without the dizziness. Subjectively, I find its effects are a bit weaker than being drunk, but for me it has no hangovers, and for many users it doesn't even build tolerance (unlike almost every other GABAergic drug). It's not covered by medicaid or anything, but it is legal to buy online, at least in the US.

That's really interesting. I'd never come across this before as far as I remember. Thanks for that. I'm tempted to ask a few questions but don't want to hijack OP's thread. Quite hopeful about this one though. I guess mainly because it's non addictive and doesn't cause tolerance. Almost seems too good to be true. I'm always up for having my cake and eating though! :))

In fairness I ended up following the link and most of my questiona were answered there. I think the main question now is, how do you buy the right stuff? There's a particular type that has the nice effects and there's some that's got much less desirable effects. For people in the western world it's hard to be certain you're getting the good type. There is a link in the guide ngmi posted and it's quite in depth but it's clear that you need a good source and finding one might take some trial and error.

I stay away from alcohol because I have addictive tendencies, but for a while when life was at rock bottom, I was hitting the bottle hard and it was spirits, too. Like you, I become happier and more outgoing when drunk, and also very affectionate (not creepily though). These days I miss that feeling of drunkenness and forgetting. I wish my health could afford it.

I can relate. The effect is too mild and short-lived right now though. My tolerance has ensured that. Drinking is like scratching an itch now, like smokers are with cigarettes. I have to get uncomfortably drunk to really enjoy drinking now.

I like my gabapentin alot. I find myself taking quite a few of them but they act on the GABA receptors and at high doses make me feel drunk/stoned. Relatively safe drug too so no you can't CTB with it lol.

There's one drug you might be interested in: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Phenibut. I had the same question and spent a very long time researching how to emulate the effects of alcohol with less of its damaging side effects, and phenibut is as close as you'll get.

Similar to alcohol it is a GABA agonist, so it will allow you to feel the same sort of "buzz" that you get from alcohol. However, unlike ethanol, it's not toxic to your body, so the side effects (such as nausea, vomiting, and liver damage, etc) are basically nonexistent. It's commonly prescribed in Russia and former soviet states for use treating depression/anxiety, and the Russian studies demonstrate high efficacy and low toxicity even for long-term use.

It's an uncontrolled drug in the USA, and there are many sites that sell it online.

Thank you for this tip. With doctors being so restrictive with benzodiazepines nowadays, it is nice to know that there is something I can take if my anxiety becomes unmanageable.
