If I block someone can they see what I post?

Being able to manipulate what other people see would be extremely annoying and cause countless misunderstandings.

I'm pretty sure it doesn't work that way here because I remember someone else pointing that out a few weeks ago.

This is how it works on most social media websites like Facebook and Twitter though. Unfortunately that's partly how so much misinformation and echo chambers can spread on those platforms so easily.

Ive often wondered this, I tried blocking someone a while back as I didn't want them to see my posts, but they still could, and I was like damn, this needs to be like social media where blocked means blocked and not half assed!!

If you block someone it only hides their posts on your end. They can still see your posts and respond to it. It just effectively makes you blind. I think it's best to use self control and just actively ignore the user.

And then someone quotes you, will the person you blocked still not able to see it? Will they see the response but not the quote? Will they not see the response at all? It's not a bad idea, but I just don't think it would have a good implementation in a forum.

I think the only thing it blocks is your ability to see their profile page /past posts
when I blocked someone, it still came up when they posted and asked me if I wanted to see the post. All I had to do was click on it and it was visible to me
