...will police look in hotels by your name? Can the clerk let them in your room if there is suspicion for suicide? If anyone knows, thanks.

Can you give a bit more context? If you're a minor, or they suspect you might be abducted, there's a good chance an Amber alert might be issued.
Have you had longer durations of you not interacting with family? Or do they expect you to be home or have a routine?

Hotel staff can let police know if they have concerns for your welfare.
Book in to the hotel under a different name. It would take them a while to check all hotels tbh

Unless you look suspicious the hotel staff wouldn't give much thought on things.
Also. if you're an adult by law, I think you need to be missing for a good 24 hours before the cops do something about it, and it would take time for them to pull recordings of your last whereabouts etc.
What about the ID? In every hotel i've been they require one
I am adult, in the US, I live with my boyfriend, we are always texting, if I don't answer for long and not home he will be worried and suspect I went to do something with myself. The hotels require ID and a credit card to check in. Even if I leave my phone at home, (so they can't track it), come to the hotel by foot and not with a car, they will have my name on the reservation, so if the police is looking for me, will they go to hotels and can they legally access my room? If they wait 24 hrs first before they look, it's okay, because N should work by then, by is there a guarantee they do?

Your biggest concern would be your boyfriend actively looking for you if the cops don't look ASAP. The 24 hr thing is not applicable especially if you are reported in as someone with serious well-being concerns etc. I think the best way to deal with the hotel situation is to choose one off their radar, or fairly inaccessible and unexpected, just to give N time to work. It will take some time for them to actively pull recordings out to have a lead on you. Good luck!

Thanks all for your replies. I am thinking maybe I will have to do it when my boyfriend leaves for a couple of days, work related, then I can leave at night as he won't be with me and won't know I am gone until morning. But that won't happen until December or January, so I don't know... It's difficult. I am playing different scenarios in my head, trying to think of everything.
My parents did that lol. I ran away from home, was living in a hotel and in other people's houses and ignored their calls. Even though I didn't leave the city, they couldn't find me and reported to the police that I was lost. They called me (I dont't usually answer strange numbers so I suggest having an app like getcontact which would allow you have even a bit of information about the number you're answering to).
Finally I answered. Told them I'm okay, nobody hurt or kidnapped me, told them that it was a usual argument between parents and daughter. Following the law, the police couldn't tell my parents where I was and where did they find me but I didn't trust them and preferred not to tell them the exact address of my hotel. Btw they offered some of their workers get to the place where I was living by car and write in a couple of useless papers. I denied, even though they mustn't tell my parents, where I was living, I was a bit paranoid about it.
They keep calling me for a whole week, wanted me to come and fill out some documents. The first time I came to the police station they had a surprise for me: my dad was waiting for me near the entrance door (later I asked policemen about it: they didn't tell him when they called me, he just was waiting for me near the door for a couple of days knowing they would make me to come). I didn't want to talk with him so I quickly got a taxi, had a small argument with him and unexpectedly drove away. His car was parked somewhere so he lost me and couldn't trail my taxi.
To be honest, it was terrible. The day before i nearly ran away from hospital and felt like shit, had no money at all and my phone was discharged. I told taxi driver the truth, said that I've had an argument with parents and at the moment my dad wanted to catch me. He asked me to pay more money but luckily drove around the city and got lost by my father trailing me.
Later police continued to call me expecting me to come and write in some documents. After a couple of days I came to the police station being ready to run if it was another trap with my parents chasing me. However, they weren't here. I filled in some documents, refused to say them where i was living (policemen said it was okay and wrote a random address to the protocol, they cared only if I was safe).
To sum up, if you're not underage, police can do nothing to help your parents or someone else catch you. Despite of this fact, I don't trust them and prefer not to tell where I live at that moment. If you want to ctb in a hotel room, bet you're succeed. Police would wait and call for too long, if someone doesn't call it exactly in your room when you're nearly dead.

I think that it would be wise to let relatives and loved ones happily know that you will go to cabin with friends (place where cellphones work unwell) or outside town to friends place etc. Police would not seek any adult as missing if they don't answer their phone for days. If relative called cop they would check your last contacts and if you said you were in holiday somewhere and seemed happy then why would they search for you? If someone doesn't show up to work for few days police may start to check about it. But anyone could get sick holiday for a week and fake it if they wanted to.
