The amount of time i keep hearing how hamsters manage to die to some random bullshit, makes me wish they could use this forum.
I mean imagine the crazy techs they would teach us...

The modern pet hamster genetic pool is hot garbage. Like a lot of pet species, they have been bred irresponsibly and therefore have a high genetic likelihood of dying early/unexpectedly. Also, as others have said, human owners are grossly irresponsible when it comes to caring for hamsters.
