There is no point living life as an unattractive man. Everything else is going well in my life except this. And it ruins everything else.

well you must admit it's a bit of a trivial reason for wanting to ctb. if your life is going well, perhaps you have the money to get some plastic surgery. i mean it's not one of those unsalvageable situations many of us face.. especially since you're a man, it'd be far worse if you were a woman. just saying. with a nice haircut, clear skin and teeth, anybody can make themselves look at least a 6 or 7 out of 10

yeah i agree with this . As sexist as this sounds looks matter far less for men, i seen the ugliest men have a large social circle and beautiful women , men can make up for it in a variety of ways by being humorous , dress nice , have money, have status , be friendly, dress smart and be intelligent and charming.

Women are almost always soley judged by their looks and im strongly considering becoming one myself for a few reasons so id make one ugly ass women but i can still be content in life .

so no i dont think you should ctb due to looks , you can still have a good life.

I do understand how you feel and society is lookist trust me look at my username.

but you can still be THE MAN!

I disagree. Looks are frighteningly decisive for both men and women. Plastic surgery is expensive and can sometimes work, but there's no guarantee, it's a risk. Dental care can also be unaffordably expensive , people don't acknowledge this enough IMO. Hair...you can be bald (which many people aren't attracted to) and have a bad skull shape. Clear skin, another privilege that is not something everyone can just have. It's not like if you just drink water and wash your face that's going to cure everyone's skin problems (some people really believe this). Unfortunately, ugly people exist in this world just like beautiful people do.

Common plastic surgery cannot fix my issues, as they mostly stem from my bone structure. Those that do work are much more expensive and require constant maintenance.
I can't agree with you about the man vs woman argument. Women get much more attention than men of similar attractiveness, especially those not on the extremes of the attractiveness ladder. As a result, even if their looks matter more, they are still far less likely to end up alone.
I wish improvement were as easy as you said, but it's much harder than that. There are only so many things you can do to make up for unfavorable facial structure and proportions.

I agree with you. Lookism is one of the biggest evils of society that flew under the radar for some reason. It's very similar to racism as they are both about being treated unfavorably due to your genetics, but one gets all the attention while the other is often ignored or even dismissed.

It really is such an unfair life as many people are disadvantaged through no fault of their own. I'm sorry that you are going through this. I also wish that I left this world a long time ago. I hope that you find relief from suffering.

In the spirit of the philosophy of this forum, I think it's important not to trivialize others' reasons for ctb. We have no idea the extent to which someone's life has been affected by their situation. The moment we start playing arbiter of what's a valid reason and what's not, then we become just another (albeit) weaker form of those who work against us. If we think that we, as an external examiner, can assess "validity" of ctb will, then we acknowledge there's a line, and that someone else other than the individual should be in charge of determining that line. It's a dangerous slope. The bottom line is that people should have autonomy over their own lives.

I think we can reframe such situations as "That's not a reason I would want to ctb, but I'm sorry it has caused you so much pain. Have you considered…"
