Anyone else? It seems I prefer to listen to my own inner voice, my own ideas, my own dreams than someone else's nowadays.

I do listen to music a fair bit but it's just a stimulant for my thoughts.

I almost never read books anymore and probably only watch 1 movie a month. I never play video games at all unless they are repetitive (sports games) where my mind is still free to wander, even that is rare.

I suppose I watch a fair bit of youtube but i'm pausing videos constantly to take time outs to daydream/think before I finish them. The dreams I create in my own mind are far superior to any movie. I am constantly trying to better understand the myself, the world around me and my place in it. I'm basically lost in thought for most of the day, even when watching a video i'm rarely present, my mind is often elsewhere. It's a strange feeling, I used to feel trapped by it but now in a way i'm starting to feel free.

Good for you... I think answers from within yourself are infinitely more valuable than anything you learn from hearing beig taught or buying.

I can't be alone with my thoughts anymore.
My mind goes to dark places.
I need something to listen to, background noise, at all times.
Lately I can't even get to sleep because my brain won't shut the hell up.

Sometimes, but usually I need a reference point, someplace to start from. Movies and video games usually help with that, but so is any new experience, like talking to strangers or cooking meat.

Or talking to meat and cooking strangers.
I'm quite sure that these activities would give plenty food for thought.

Which reminds me. In Jade Empire there was a cooking recipe for human leg. I really liked that game.

I'm often lost in my own head but it's neither nice nor voluntarily. I can't stand being with my own thoughts. I wish I could just enjoy my time with myself but it feels like torture.

I used to. There's not much up there to ponder anymore. But entertaining my monkey brain with mmos while I'd space out and daydream used to be my jam. I can also empathize with the serial movie pausing :)), I like to imagine all of the characters' feelings and put them in hypothetical situations in my head to get a better feeling for who they are outside of just the actor's portrayal of them.

Independent thought is a rare gift that many people out there are out to steal. Don't give it up ever.

I used to be like that since I was a little kid, and up until I experienced a psychotic episode and had to be medicated. I think the meds permanently broke something inside of me (or was it the psychosis itself?), and now my imagination doesn't really work, I don't get many new ideas and tend to get stuck on the same depressing thoughts going in circles when there aren't any outside stimulants. I still find most movies and videogames boring though, so my life got pretty boring overall. So I'm kind of jealous of you, it's a great feeling to be lost in thoughts, if they aren't super dark. No matter where you are and what you're doing, your mind is always your best companion - that's awesome.

I like both. Things made from other people can always add something new to what I already have in mind.
