Ok, some of you heard my ranting about an air conditioner falling out the window. It was replaced free of charge. Thing is, the new one has a leak in it's lines and it isn't going to last (it's already struggling to keep 75 in 88 degree weather. (My apartment is always 10 degrees hotter than outside because of the Sun. If it's 90 outside, it's pushing 100 inside) The HVAC place isn't going to replace this one, they haven't even called me back. Now, it's just about June and the Summer hasn't even started. I only have about $600 to my name. Should I spend the $300 it costs for a new air conditioner for the summer? I might be evicted in December, I don't have a car and if I'm evicted, then I only used the air conditioner for 3 months and I'm out $300. I was planning to die very soon, in a few weeks. Now I'm afraid to take my SN because of a report about a woman who kept waking up and hearing her brain pop and fizz like bacon on a skillet. I'm on Public Assistance, and a program called Shelter Plus Care, and they take care of rent. I know I'm pitiful, I'm an Invalid...I can't help it. I don't' know if they will be paying the rent past December. What would you do in my situation? Would you just deal with the summer heat and use the AC as long as it can work (with a leak of freon) or would you say, "Fuck it, I'll buy a new one and if I end up being alive, hopefully I'll use it more than one season". $300 is a lot of money to me. And Temporary Assistance with Shelter Plus Care doesn't last forever. I'm so tired of having to weigh pros and cons. I'm so tired of everything turning to shit around me. Seriously, everything has been breaking of mine. There is also a chance, that if I do order an AC (online from the hell called Walmart), it could be damaged in transit--and I don't have a car to get a refund. So what would you do. Any advice? Should I flip a coin? I did and it said Heads for buying a new AC....but I'd like your advice.
