Been trying various things to up energy levels for months but nothing is working. Multivitamins; huge doses of vitamin D (hehe), all the B vitamins; caffeine, various herbs and supplements (kratom, St. John's wort, creatine, glucosamine to name but a few) - to zero effect as I'm still fatigued and fucked on a daily basis. I feel useless and pointless and just want to be able to get moving and be able to DO STUFF…

Will alone isn't enough, it's my body that is failing me as, more often than not, I cannot even muster the energy to shower or do basic tasks, let alone do big chores and/or start rebuilding the strength I have lost from being unwell for so damn long! I cannot be inactive any longer, my life is just wasting away and I feel powerless to fight it as my brain cannot override my stupid body.

Seriously thinking about getting illicit drugs just to have some periods of activity as I seriously cannot exist this way any longer! Are there any easy to obtain, legal substances that others have tried and found to work?? I've tried many but at this point there are no wrong answers as any option I haven't tried is worth a shot before I fall to the dark side.

Stuff that works soon after taking it would be best as I've not the patience or resources to gamble on tenuous long term strategies.

There are a few legal stimulants but the problem is they are known to damage the liver or heart with more frequent use. The only one I've seen that is known to be safe longer term is called Adrafinil. It's similar to Modafinil, and promotes wakefulness. Phenylpiracetam is safe but It's not really very strong at all. Illicit stuff is a bad idea if you actually want to do anything productive. It might get you up but you end up doing useless stuff for hours and the comedowns are awful. If you are able to go see a doctor, you should. They can prescribe stuff that's way more effective. Otherwise, Adrafinil is quite safe.

have/had the same issue. did you do a blood test for any vitamin deficiencies? i was anemic and taking iron supplements helped me somewhat. also, i predominately have my extreme fatigue in winter because it's so dark all the time. bought a daylight lamp a few months ago and that helped me a bit.

I don't have any quick fixes unfortunately. I understand your urgency, it can be hell. I lost myself completely to ME/CFS at times. I'm in full recovery at the moment. it took 5 years to get to this point. I feel fortunate. I was bedridden on and off throughout that time. I can give my full list of supplements I'm on. I don't know what is actually helping and I can't really say why. I just picked things up throughout the years and kept what I think is helping.

Also, I think my brain chemistry and hormones were absolutely destroyed by my depression and PTSD. Bad sleep, constant fight-or-flight response, etc. It destroyed my acuity and energy. Is depression or severe anxiety something you deal with currently? I feel I was taxing my whole body with my severe mental health issues.

Might seem kind of obvious, but cutting out alcohol can help with energy levels massively.
Not easy if you've already got a habit mind.

I have a doctor I see regularly but they're not very helpful, they just give me pain pills and not much else.
Trying to wean off them as I feel they're not helping the issue.

Had many tests over the years with little insight, iron levels seem ok and hormones etc also ok too.
I do get that it's harder in the winter, which is why I'm taking vitamin D and trying to absorb as much sunlight as possible!

I drink once a week at most and don't feel that it's much of a problem but thanks 😊
hahaha I have tried methylphenidate but tbh it didn't really affect me!

To be fair, coke doesn't really give you energy (not like meth/addy), but just makes you feel so damn good. I know why so many people get hooked on that shit after one or two times.

Never really liked coke, always found it to be overrated! Too short lived and damn expensive lol in the past I leaned more towards speed for cheapness and longevity; reckon if taken sporadically in small doses it might be enough to kick me up the arse without too many ill effects

I was being quasi-facetious in my post, but if you want a cheap an legal way to boost energy for a couple hours, try some caffeine and ephedrine. You can get both at Walmart or most pharmacies (in the US). You do need to show your id for the ephedrine, as it is regulated - you can only buy so much at a time. The brand name is Bronkaid. I would also take one aspirin daily to help with circulation.

Lol I figured :haha:
I'm not too sure about the availability of ephedrine in the U.K, which is where I am… I've looked for it but not been able to find it.
Tried various preparations of caffeine with or without other things but to little effect, it seems that it's going to take more than bog standard "pep pills" to get me moving!
I have been researching the use of stimulants in conjunction with the medications I'm already on - there is evidence to suggest that they can not only counteract the lethargy and slow metabolism that my pain meds induce but actually work with them to be able to increase analgesia and reduce the dose of opioids (which is another factor I want to consider) I'm taking…

Ya i heard it causes liver damage and if you take it you have to get checked in every month with a doctor. I assume if you just don't take it everyday it won't be as bad. I'd love to try something like that. I think it's best to take it on your bad days so you can get stuff done and not feel awful later. I wish I could get something like that.

Adderall? I'm in the US so maybe they give it out easier.

I asked to be tested for ADD, but they refused to since I was an adult, then offered Adderall.

Tbh it makes me very nauseous, but I do have a lot more energy and get stuff done.

Tried various easy to obtain things but nothing really worked, I couldn't seem to get hands on anything effective, save for using caffeine in a more constructive way.

No chance of trying to get ADD meds as still got to be able to take much needed pain meds - if I start trying to obtain stimulants via the doc they're just gonna think I'm a junkie n try to reduce the painkillers I'm on.

Experimented a little with tiny amounts of illicit drugs with a reasonable amount of success these past couple of weeks. Plus proper nutrition - really been considering how to fuel myself adequately with proper foods n supplements to facilitate a more active lifestyle, the combo of all these things is leading to progress I think

Try not masterbating for a while, it'll do wonders for your energy levels

@Red are you male?

If so, try taking Zinc. Zinc helps produce testosterone. I started taking Zinc (started with 50mg but found 100mg and 150mg to work much better) and my energy level went way, way up. So did my mood, in general.

Seriously, low testosterone really fucks up males. night and day sort of thing. I got my free Testosterone level checked and it was 311 (amber is the color of my energy idk) and less than 300 is what providers require for treatment in most cases.

Everyday I take:

1 Multivitamin
1 Acetyl-L Carnetine 1500mg
3 Zinc 50mg (check on recommended doses. 150mg is higher than what is typically recommended. watch for side effects. this really cranked my energy level up.)
2 Vitamin D 10000 IU (less than 10000 IU is pretty much junk)
1 Turkesterone 500mg (started this week)
1.5 Sertraline 100mg
1 Dexmethylphenidate 30mg

aside from some nausea (I take the stuff with oatmilk and go back to sleep to avoid that, and it's most likely the Dexmethylphenidate, anyway) there isn't too much that messes with me.

I had always have sleep problems and excessive daytime sleepiness. I thought it was because noisy nights and sleep deprivation but now i sleep 8-9 hours and still feel exhausted. I feel like i would fall to sleep but i dont most of time if i sleep well the last night. Maybe it is just depression?

I'm female so don't wanna boost testosterone all that much lol the whole "it puts hair on your chest" thing my granddad said used to scare the crap outta me lol what do you think causes the nausea?

I think it's a mixture between inadequate nutrition and phenomenal pain levels that rocket come night time, it literally keeps me up all night half the week no matter what I do or take! Magnesium is helping a little but it's mainly out of control

Yep. If you're female check out vitamins and stuff for women. There has to be a good list of essential female vitamins, maybe with a focus on energy or something.

Wouldn't recommend cranking up Testosterone in that case! there was an episode of House where that was a conflicting factor.

Nausea:
Dexmethylphenidate has nausea as a side effect. I have taken it alone and pretty much vomited after 5 minutes or so.

I take vitamins on an empty stomach. part of this is because it makes the Dex more effective. also, I dont really eat breakfast in general.

I have an alarm set for 5am. when it goes off I take the shot glass of vitamins. then, I go back to sleep. not really eating anything there.

In general, taking vitamins on an empty stomach can lead to stomach upset.

A glass of milk, oatmilk (maybe juice?) with the vitamins keeps things settled.
