Ummm.... if you kill yourself, even if you manage to make it LOOK like an accident, it will still be self inflicted.

When you go about your daily routines be mindful (I know!, I hate that word too!) about what you're doing & what dangers you instinctively/habitually avoid. Are any of those things potentially fatal?

Go swimming for too long. I almost got hypothermia doing that but my mother decided I was done swimming before that point.
Or you can do what I did when I was 7.i tied a rope around a hay bale then pretend it's a car. Fall down and get the rope stuck across your neck

Water supposedly makes your body cool down 25 times faster than in air, so definitely a good way to go for hypothermia.

An accident could happen accidentally when trying to set up an accident. If you are not careful I think it could.

The risk of failure is a big deal to you?

Use electricity.

Maybe slide a ladder back and forth on a home power line. Preferably one lacking the insulation, a secondary line coming from an overhead high kva transformer.

Maybe while painting around the weatherhead on a house could work well for somebody thinking of having an accident.

It would be instantaneous.

Would that hurt? I have never been electrocuted but I've seen the aftermath...unless is there like a certain threshold you cross where it's instantaneous?

I would venture to say no. I doubt it would be a hurt type of feeling? Probably something for an instance though?

I can say for multiple sets of people who have indeed accidentally done this.. none of them are around here anymore!

They probably die at the instance of electrocution.

There's some videos kicking about of 4 guys moving a scaffold and they hit an overhead powerline.

Wouldn't like to guess if they died instantly, but I hope it was before smoke started pouring off them and the flames appeared.

NOT a good idea IMHO.

An interesting fact on electricity is that you are apparently much more likely to survive being struck by a direct lightning strike to the body than when touching a hot power line.

I have seen three people who were struck by lightning immediately prior to our meeting. All three of these people survived and had no lasting injuries that I know of.

If I do decide to go with something that could plausibly seem accidental, its between a high impact vehicular collision featuring no other drivers (I'd go to a highway and floor it into a tree or other object) or stepping in front of a train while wearing headphones so it looks like I was just stupid and inattentive. I'm really not keen on the train option though as it would be traumatic for the driver and witnesses, plus would fuck up everyone's commute.

It is fascinating to me.

Do you know how hot a lightning strike can get, or cause to the earth where it strikes? It is a temperature hotter than the sun! (if I recall it correctly).

'Flahover effect" saves a person when recieve a direct strike.

Now, if you are standing on the ground near to where it strikes, or any other indirect strike (touching a tree etc...), you are very likely to die.

This is idiotic. There are PLENTY of videos of people or animals who do NOT have an "instantaneous" death when playing with power lines with the gruesome aftermath.

There are certainly some factors to consider. Electricity takes the least resistance pathway. There needs to be a path to ground. A ladder would provide this pathway for a person.

100 and 200 milliamperes (0.1 to 0.2 amp) are lethal.

There is hardly a chance to survive touching a secondary line coming from a high KVA transformer. It would practically be over before it started.

Unless it throws you off and you're left with internal burning where it surged through your body.

Dying in this way is by no means certain, even if it does kill you it is by no means certain to be instant, and if it fails will not only be extremely painful, but leave long term damage that cannot be repaired.

This is a common misunderstanding. Yes 60 mA across the heart can stop it. No, touching a power line does not guarantee the exact path the current takes. As I mentioned, it is easy to find horrific footage that demonstrates how wrong and irresponsible your initial statement is.

do you live by a large body of water?
you can get a kayak and just go without coming back and it might look like an accident.

I may come back to this when I get the chance.

I would not want to be irresponsible with any statements made, so I will try to be more careful of my wording whenever posting.

I will definitely walk back my statement of it happening instantaneously, or to not worry of having severe traumatic pain.

The chance of success is very high. It could definitely be considered an accident (or something). It would be likely to cause death in a near instant. There is no guarantee though.

It fits the question asked of this thread and is worth considering, in my opinion.
