This has happened since I was a kid, the first time I was really honest with my doctors about depression, my grandma was there and said that it was probably because of my period.
This has happened so many times with just discussing with my mom about getting help, she always tells me I should wait because its probably my hormones, period, birth control, etc. I've delayed getting help for so long because of that and I fucking hate having my emotions and mental health downplayed just because I have a vagina, and Im honestly scared of going to the doctor because I don't want to hear the same thing from them. I need the help but I dont want it.

If you can, maybe try arranging an appointment yourself if you're able to? That would be more helpful then anything else at this point, or find someone you trust to talk to.

Yes but i have to discuss my appointments with my mom but i just lose any hope and desire for getting better when she goes into her talks about how im not actually depressed and it's something like my cycle, not hanging out with friends or getting outside, stupid stuff like that, or she turns the conversation to herself or about how i "do nothing"

Can you make up a story about the appointment?

Sorry, but I don't understand why you have to discuss your appointments with your mom.

some people have trouble being independent, for the longest time i struggled to do things on my own... now i guess I can kind of do things on my own but its still a big step for some who deal with social anxiety and stuff. Not saying this is her reasoning but that's my thoughts

Sorry, I live with her and she likes to know all of my med/health changes and it's not really not about making the appointment, I just dont know how to stand up for myself and tell her that she's not right because she hates being wrong, even if its about something like my own fuckig brain.

Can you see a female doctor? Feel like they'd be the most likely to take it seriously

Honestly, you don't have even have to tell her she's wrong. You have the right to schedule appointments, go to them, and manage your own health without telling her anything about any of it it.

There are lots of things I'd like to know that are none of my fucking business and therefore I don't know. As a grown-up, I have to deal with that. :) (You could tell her the same.)

I agree with this. It's your business, not theirs

what if you got a calendar and you put an X on the days you have your period and a different colored X for the days you are depressed (or Xs if you want to show that some days are worse then others you can color code that). the best way to know things for sure or show it to others is to keep track of it
