I attempted to to o.d with n earlier this month. I took a stat does of meto, after about 15 minutes I started have the worse feelings of what I thought was panic that were unlike anything I've ever had - high heart rate, trouble breathing, very high body temp, muscle spasms, shaking (something I've never experienced with panic/anxiety)the feeling was dibilitating and I did not go through with waiting another 20 mins and taking the n. I found this pretty strange bc I'd been feeling calm all day. Upon research I see that NMS is common side effect and neurological syndrome that can be brought on by taking the drug. As well as uncontrolled muscle spams. My body felt as though it had been taken over I had all the symtoms listed for these side effects, it was horrible unlike anxiety or panic I'd ever felt before. Well fuck. Any other antienimics that could work?
The symptoms went on for over an hour. I took benzos to calm down which helped only a little bit. I can't help but wonder what could have been if I didn't have this reaction. I assumed it was just some type of intense panic reaction to overdosing at first but like I said researching now it makes a lot more sense especially considering how calm I was before taking them. This sucks.
Also is recommend that every try meto first before using it so they know if they have this reaction. I took 40 mg. I may try it again so I'm positive it was just a reaction to meto but honestly I don't know if I can go through that again.

Hi BellaKAT :-)

I also think you had an NMS, but your dose was way too high. 40mg is definitely too much. If you really want to try it again, take a maximum of 10mg at once (30mg/day) and please be careful.

Thanks you for your response. I thought 30 to 60 mg was recommended for a stat dose before. I'm honestly so traumatized I'm scared to take the meto again. Is there any other anti emetic that could work?

I tried it a few times already and it worked very well for me. I only took 10mg each time.

I took 10mg for about five nights in a row. They help me sleep and keep down more alcohol. I've stopped so i have them when needed.

Meto is first and foremost a neuroleptic. And if you OD an neuroleptic is NMS one of the results. It seems likely that you had a classic neuroleptic OD, based on your symptoms.

The antiemetic topic is very complex. You can choose between dopamin- (Meto), serotonin- (ondansetron) and histamin-blocker (dimenhydrinat).

Thank you so much for your knowledge and for this info. Does that mean it wouldn't happen if I took less? Is there another antiemetic you would recommend? I'm pretty disappointed as my method seems to have hit a bump in the road and I'm looking for advice for how to get around it.

No, there is unfortunately no guarantee. If you want to rule out hypersensitivity on meto, you need to talk to a doctor and clear that up. It seems like a classic neuroleptic OD, but I understand your fear.

Domperidon do the same but goes not sraight in the brain (=safer), if you're really hypersensitive to meto, domperidon could be your second choice.

I'm afraid of meto side effects itself more than the SN.

Apparently I took the meto the wrong way - too much. Even though I thought I read that was a good dose. Idk. It was a terrible feeling, hard describe but 1000 times worse than the worst panic attack imaginable. honestly kind of traumatized me. I plan to attempt again but I still feel like I need to mentally recover before I'm ready to try again.

What stat does are you planning to do now 30mg? Maybe try 10mg first to see if you have a reaction.

Yes I might try 10 if someone else ^ says it keeps them from throwing up when d inking maybe that'll be enough..
Seems Ike the other recommended antiemetic isn't available in my country.
I may just go with 10mg and/or look into natural methods to curb nausea / gag reflex and chance it bc I really want the get this over with.

Do you know if you had this reaction at any dose? I'll look into the antiemetic you suggested

I found it on eBay. Domperidone isnt mentioned or recommended in the pph, so I can't vouch for how well it works with n but I'm just hoping because I don't have many other options. 30 - 60 mg stat dose of meto is recommended in the pph and that obviously didn't work for me. :(

I'm very afraid of this happening. When you google antiemedics diphenhydramine is listed. I'm sure it has been mentioned before. I'm just don't want to take a chance.
