I can't believe how easy it was to buy a gun! I didn't get ammo, but I just wanted to make sure I could pass the background check. I guess maybe they're not as thorough as I thought they were. They didn't ask me any questions or anything. I was so afraid they'd find out I tried to kill myself, or that I've been seeing a psychiatrist for years and suffer from depression and anxiety... but nope. They didn't ask me any questions or anything.

I guess all I've gotta do now is take the class for my ccw so I can buy bullets and stuff without any suspicion (and probably buy a bigger gun) and I'll be all set to go.

I'm confused. Why do you think you're going to raise suspicion by buying ammo? You already bought a gun, that's the hardest part.

I'm assuming you're in America in which case you have absolutely nothing to worry about when buying ammo. People buy ammo all the time for home protection, target shooting, etc

I dunno. I don't know the proper protocol, so I want to make sure I do everything the right way. I went there not to buy a gun, but to get my ccw, which I assumed I needed to -get- a gun. Then I ask if I'll need a gun for the lessons, and they say I can rent one. Then I have them clarify that I can get my own gun for the lessons if I want, but I might get in trouble if I get pulled over if I have a gun AND ammo without a ccw, so I shouldn't buy ammo. shrugs

Ah, I understand being careful but really this is America so you're fine. You don't need lessons or a CCW to buy a gun or ammo in any state.

As for transporting guns it's different state to state. For example, California requires it to be unloaded & locked in the trunk meanwhile a place like Texas you can have it loaded and in your vehicle without a concealed handgun license.

Well at the very least I need lessons to understand how to operate a gun properly. I appreciate the advice really but there's no harm in taking every possible precaution to avoid suspicion. Other than the fact that I'm so eager to die that I might just hang myself first, hahaha

Research the method in and out before you make such an attempt. Many have failed only to be permanently damaged from their attempt. One man had to shoot himself three times before he struck true. As with everything, be cautious. And dont use a caliber below .40 if youre using a handgun. .45 if you can. Revolvers are more powerful. Please be outdoors when you go for it, painting the walls wouldnt be considerate for anyone.

This method has the highest success rate, but the most to lose if you fail. Just make sure you don't place the gun under your chin or aim at the front of your head (forehead) as it's most likely to end in failure. The temple is also too risky along with aiming the gun at your chest (heart).

Must say I'm quite envious. This method is the closest to surefire you're going to get, along with N. In Canada once you have been hospitalized for mental health issues/suicide attempts it's close to impossible to purchase a gun legally. The only ways around it would be to purchase one in the black market, borrow one from someone you know (pretty shitty) or go to a shooting range.

In most states you can buy ammo without anything but proof you're over 18. Can get it at Wal-Mart even.

Best, though, you get a short barreled 12 gauge shotgun, 00 buckshot ammo.

I'm not convinced that shooting yourself is painless. As long as you have blood oxygen and neurotransmitters it will still be painful. Pain isn't just created by a module in the brain.

Well done on getting past the most difficult part, which is legally obtaining a firearm! :smiling: Now, then next step would of course being familiar with the firearm, which I know you are already pursuing or going to already. Also, yes, getting a more powerful gun is better, but I wouldn't recommend an hand-cannon, especially if you are not very experienced with firearms as they have immensely powerful recoils, resulting in hitting something else rather than your intended target (brainstem). A 9mm, .45, or .40 (have the be a bit more precise just to ensure 100% success) would be more than sufficient to CTB. Just make sure not to anticipate the recoil and move while you pull the trigger as that will cause you to miss and possibly fail.

True, but if one shoots oneself in such an area that would result in instantaneous loss of conscious, then it is possible that the person will be first unconscious then dead very soon after (unless it is a direct hit to the brainstem). I believe people who die from GSWs (gun shot wounds) generally die from the trauma, shock, and blood loss, but hitting and destroying the brainstem would result in an guaranteed death.

Yeah in theory. It's a risk. Nobody has survived being shot in the brain stem. You risk your dignity doing a gun shot method.

If you shot yourself in an isolated place where no one can find you in, let's say, a day or two, you probably won't survive even if you miss the brain stem. Either you die from a trauma or you bleed out.

So for the sake of not getting everyone's hopes up, and not contributing to false statistics, I thought everyone should know I got found out and I failed. No serious injury. Been in an institution for the last week or so. I just got out yesterday. I didn't have much time to actually focus on trying to do it, but I did not manage to shoot myself at all.

Yes you can. This idea that you can't get a gun in countries where you need a permit is ridiculous. In fact it is very easy.

Eh... I dunno. I mean I feel ok. I'm definitely not pleased about having been locked in a psyche ward, but the experience wasn't as bad as I expected. But I would say I got somewhat lucky in that regard. I mean, being forced to live with a bunch of other crazy, disturbed people without many ways to spend your free time productively hardly seems like a healthy environment, or conducive to good therapy. Only upside is I got to see my psychiatrist every day, which isn't normally possible. I keep on thinking that this is a place you send people to -get- crazy.

Let's just say that I was a little too eager and impatient and, as a result, very reckless. I was found out and promptly prevented from completing my mission.

Where do you live if you don't mind me asking? The USA? If so, which state do you live in?
I ask because I am trying to figure out how to buy a gun, and the laws in my state are strict.

I dont think a gun will be painless. Had a far off family member that did it that way and remains braindead. His selfish family keeps him alive.

Not to quibble too much, but brain death is definitely a painless condition. No brain to process those nerve sensations, no pain. Of course, getting there can well be a different story, and one of the reasons I'm not going out by gun (what's going to go through my head after it's scrambled by a bullet, but before I bleed out), but once you're there, you can't feel a thing... at least in this life.

Just take a beginner course it's much easier and cheaper. Ccw is more detailed

Do you know the details? It's not rocket science as long as it's a decent caliber and you use common sense when aiming. Most failures result from pointing under the chin. Almost all of the face transplant stories are from aiming under the chin.
