I think if I had a gun I'd aim at my head. However, there's a small chance of surviving an ending up as a vegetable. Also, your father will be in trouble because of his gun being used when they investigate your death.
It's your decision but I'd think it twice before acting.

I. Believe a 9mm will do it but ... Research more about where to aim and please don't act on impulse. Take a little time and do it right .

Take care. ❤️

There is a way around this. If the gun was properly stored he could leave a note saying he guessed at the safe password or whatever.. would have to know more details.

Also OP should leave a signed document somewhere saying if they become a vegetable they want to be terminated, and send that out on a delayed email to people outside the immediate family but who are close. You don't wanna end up like terri schiavo

Gun is my choice and I have a collection of them (I love to shoot). But it would be easy to act on impulse because it is available and quick, no planning required.

I did an internet search once for pictures of people who have done this. In my work, I saw a lot of blood and guts, became almost immune to it. But after seeing those pictures, I had serious doubts. It may not be for you.

I also have been involved in the care of a few failed suicide attempts. Trust me, it's not a pretty picture and this is one of the top reasons I have not attempted (yet). There is no calling someone to save you once you pull that trigger. There is no changing your mind. It is final, Very Final. All done.

As for using your father's gun, I have mixed thoughts about that. Do you know how to use it? This is a method you do not want to screw up! The legal ramifications for him, the potential for lifelong guilt, may or may not matter to you? Perhaps that is one of your reasons, to get even with him? To teach him a lesson? If he is a bad person, would he even care? I have thought all of these thoughts myself. It's a vicious circle.

Personally, my opinion is if it's not your gun, don't CTB with it. The ramifications for those left behind are just too grim. Guilt, possible criminal charges, etc. I think anyone serious about CTB should take the time to research and gather their own supplies. To do otherwise is just impulsive and selfish.

This method has some serious risk involved if not done correctly, it's the main reason I'm not choosing it. I think from what i read, placing the gun in your mouth and tilting it towards your brain usually does the trick, I don't know.

A 9mm (I assume it's a hollowpoint round) should be sufficient but shot placement is tantamount as hitting the wrong part may cause serious injury and potentially ending up as a vegetable. As for what others said, I would consider the ramifications of what would happen post CTB as it's father's weapon.

You're right but I believe there are many users on here who don't care what happens after they're dead.

The brainstem, at the base of the brain, controls and regulates the most critical functions necessary to sustain life (heartbeat and breathing).
