Wars over oil will soon turn into wars over WATER and uncontaminated FOOD sources..
Diseases keep getting pluckier and more able to outmaneuver antibiotics because (ahem) assholes and farming industries ABUSE them. RFK Jr is an anti-vaccine psycho dolt, and steering the US Govt's healthcare plans into Wackadoo Conspiracy Freak Territory.
Climate change is happening SO much FASTER than I expected. I moved here in 2006; Summers were NEVER that bad. Now EVERY Summer day is too fucking hot for comfort, and weird snow and ice storms happen (WAY too often for my very shitty car, and I have a job that DOESN'T give you the day off-- security. You're EXPECTED to show up in a blizzard, even with no power at the job site due to destroyed lines from falling trees. i once had to come in to work overtime graveyard shift on Xmas Eve during a blizzard, after another worker refused to. I heard later they fired him) in Winter that are far from normal.
Companies realized after Covid that they could simply make their lost profits back by just RAISING EVERY PRICE 200% on EVERYTHING.
Rent subsequently keeps going up; thank inflation, Air B&B and greedhead commercial real estate. AND they are never going to lower them.... the SAME way Americans' gas prices NEVER drop, even after a War For Oil. They just rise and rise and rise. (Did you know Iran gives gas to their citizens for FREE? And this even though the country has no refining facilities for their own oil, so they have to export it to get gasoline made?)
The Good Christian Right of America has decided that starvation and homelessness are Someone Else's Problem, not govt's, OR churches'. Also, you can just kill brown people or throw them the fuck out of the country without a trial or lawyer. That's cool, too. They HATE abortion, but are AOK with death after that.
Hate and bigotry are trendy in Murrucuh, too. It's cool to laugh at the misfortunes of minorities again, if not outright kill them.
We don't need a nuclear war, or zombies.
Human complacency and ignorance -IS- our zombie apocalypse.
....but maybe we'll still turn out OK...... but I'd rather be dead now, before it gets worse, than expect a 1 in 1000000 turnround of human complacency and prejudice. Humans don't have a very good track record for peace and love, or resisting dangerous new technologies and weapons. I'm genuinely SHOCKED there haven't been more nuclear weapons used. Of course, we all know which country has dropped 2 on cities full of civilian men, women, children, infants, and pets. France has nuked Algeria improperly out of racism, and Britain the Aussie outback because same, but they didn't target actual cities.
