I mean, like hanging finding the carotids, burning charcoal outside then getting inside a tent, and others.

Uuuuhm... So you think most suicide completers have not gone through the necessary steps to complete a suicide?
Sorry I don't get what you mean.
I think what he means is that most suiciders are unprepared and underinformed. Which is a shame and another good reason why we finally need to destignatized it.

Lack of knowledge = risk of failure = long term damage and regret.

Well I understood that not all "suiciders" did all those attempts before a successful one.

well, it is like a ritual; but it gets a great advantage........as people discuss about what is the best technique, them do not it and they save their life.

Seems like a pretty random thing to point out and make a whole post about, but to each their own.

I can't comment because I don't know how many of the successful suicides here followed every step, but I followed a good few of the SN overdose posts and they all pretty much followed Stan's guide from what I could tell. Can't say for any other method.

From my experience, the times I've actually committed to CTB were spur of the moment and they have failed because I just did it without researching them assuming they work. It felt like a tsunami took over me and I committed to CTB. (If you're curious of the methods, they were superficial and not even close to any method.)
This was during the time when google was new and I don't think there would have been information for methods specifically for high rate of success. But now due to information and like Exit international there's exact information. Of course I'm sure people skip steps because probably they have no access to such and such.
Trust me when you commit to CTB you do it and it overtakes you. The embarrassing thing is surviving it and having to deal with the aftermath.

Diverging the topic, I look back at my previous attempts and they were lessons in life.... But now, I'm just trying to live whether it be living or possible chance of CTB.

I think there are two types of ctb attempts. One like you describe where an overwhelming urge comes over you, it's all-consuming and you're almost powerless to resist. That's the type that will skip steps because the urge is too strong to patiently go through the steps.

The other type is planned, often over a long period, all necessary items obtained, checked, techniques rehearsed. Then may be shelved until the time is right. I feel they have a better chance of success.

Suicide has been around long since this forum was created. So i think that following the steps here or not, it will happen whether they have a planned method or are impulsive.

I mean....true? Obviously people ctb without this site and without proper planning/knowledge. This site just makes it more possible to avoid the risk of failing and incurring more pain than necessary.

I think alot of us get 'Information overload'
For those of us before Internet age remember when the hanging method was simply learning how to tie a noose properly. Now it's like a complex science project that's makes it scary as hell.

Pouring coffee....diy vaping mods and liquids...

Now hipsters do hanging. Once it's cool, they won't do it anymore.

Side joke: How did the hipster burn his tongue? He drank his coffee before it was cool.

Not much information is needed to hang or shoot yourself, and these are the most successful methods. Info is needed when it comes to methods like poison or inert gas because they're much less obvious.

The first time I ever tested hanging, I'd never been on this site. And though I have refined my process and materials a bit (and purchased alternative methods of shotgun and SN) since then, I was 100% successful and capable of dying at that time had I resolved to do so.
