Meaninglessness

Existence is absolutely meaningless

From the newspaper of the future:

The cruelest era in human history - people were treated worse than domestic animals!

People were in denial of human death during the 20th century and the beginning of the 21th century. The death penalty had been abolished in many countries. The healthcare pretended that human death didn´t exist - only pets were allowed to be euthanazed. People were fixed on prolonging human life. Patients were terminally ill for years before death occured. People suffered from health problems for decades. People were terribly tormented - this was human torture. This indirect torture for such a long time has never occurred before. Physician assisted suicide in Switzerland was only for rich people. Talking about suicide and death were taboo. People discussed suicide anonymously on the Internet. People committed suicide in the most cruel and inhuman ways and some became severely handicapped by failure. The police did everything to stop suicide. But humans were allowed to kill other animals - 75 percent of all species on Earth became extinct in 2050. Civilization is collapsing due to overpopulation and climate change.

In 2022, human life is like a competition - the longer someone can live, the better. We are expected to put up with anything until we die naturally. You win top prize if you die from old age. From the day you were born, you are basically forced to live. People have children in a world of suffering without thinking about the consequences. Parents tend to do everything they can to prolong their children´s lives, no matter how old the children are and no matter how disabled they are. But every time someone has a baby, there will be a person who has to die of something. When our bodies break, the bodies should be repaired. Your broken body parts must be replaced. When a tooth breaks, it should be fixed at the dentist. However, if you live long enough, you can lose all your teeth and then people say that you should live on liquid. If you suffer from chronic pain, you should use pain medication. If you become disabled, you should get a wheelchair. If you suffer from chronic illness, you should continue living in meaningless suffering. If you become paralyzed, the medicalcare will prolong your life and in this situation, your have to starve or die of dehydration to shorten your meaningless suffering. If you get so old and ugly that no one wants you, you are expected to go on living in loneliness and pain. Old people who can´t fend for themselves should be admitted to nursing homes. If you are too sick to support yourself, the society can give you money for food and rent, but not much else. If you become homeless, you are expected to suffer in poverty as long as possible. The healthcare prolongs our lives even on the deathbed - people are expected to suffer as long as possible before they die. But the healthcare shouldn´t only take care of births and illnesses - they should also help people to die. The healthcare pretends that human death doesn´t exist. Let those who can recover do that, but give euthanasia to people who want to die. When something gets so broken that it doesn´t work normally, it is usually thrown away. We are all going to die and therefore we should do it in a good way without having to suffer for years beforehand. There should be euthanasia clinics in every country. Physician assisted suicide shouldn´t only be for rich people - euthanasia should be a human right for everybody. No one should have to commit suicide alone without the help of a physician - we need help if something goes wrong. Life is about short-lived pleasures and because of the high life expectancy, what awaits most of us are decades of pain and suffering. Why should I suffer for years or decades when there is deadly medicine that will solve all my problems?

They give euthanasia to some who don't even want it just for revenge. It's a mixed-up world, isn't it? And they say we, the depressed, are mentally ill. Yeah right. LOL

Sometimes my mind wanders and I start wondering if they will restrict something like SN to such a degree that it is virtually impossible to get. Like- will people on here in many (or, not so many) years in the future look back and say- they were 'lucky'- at least they could get hold of that. (Apologies to those who have had painful failed attempts. It's likely just my wishful thinking that hopes it will be less painful than other methods- if I ever have the guts to do it.)

Maybe by then, another method will have been discovered though. They'll never stop people from CTB. They'll just try and make it as difficult, painful and frightening as they can.

I agree that we remain in something of a 'dark ages' era that will be looked back with disdain, just as we do our treatment of slaves, women and other historically marginalised groups. Today's themes of our destruction of the ecosystem, wars between nation-states and criminalising humane deaths are insane from an outsider's perspective, all while we distract ourselves with celebrity gossip and football.

Interestingly, the very word euthanasia derives from Ancient Greece, translating approximately to 'good death'. As with Ancient Rome, there was a sensible and balanced approach taken to this issue. In Rome, the process entailed submitting a request to the Senate who would approve or disapprove providing the means for assisted suicide.

Only when Christianity became dominant did our present era of taboo and criminality around suicide/euthanasia emerge. This is the same religion that brought us the actual Dark Ages, Crusades, Inquisition and countless bloody wars, and sadly remains immensely powerful politically and culturally to this day.

It is unclear how long it will take to rid society of this monster, or if it will ultimately destroy humanity in the process. But clearly something has gone very wrong.

It's absolutely insane and disturbing to me how we still live in such a pro suffering society, which is so focused on prolonging such unnecessary torture all for no reason and no purpose. There could never be any value to enduring an existence that could never be worth it, I see no benefit to suffering for decades on end just to inevitably deteriorate and die eventually anyway and yet despite this suicide is often irrationally viewed as being worse than pain and torment with unlimited potential as to how horrific this can get for us.

It's true that euthanasia would solve and prevent all problems as it would remove what is the true cause of all problems in the first place which is life itself. Nothing could ever justify making suicide so difficult as death is what we are destined for anyway and our only fate is to die. I bet even those who are against euthanasia would wish for it if they ended up in a situation where they suffered extremely. But yes, people should stop trying to deny what is simply undeniable. For so many people to die is simply the preferable option and this fact should be accepted and they should be able to exit peacefully without having to struggle in the process of dying and planning suicide. It bothers me to such an extreme extent how suicide is still this stigmatised, it's all just so wrong to me the accepted attitude towards voluntary death. We never asked for this life so we shouldn't be expected to stay here at all costs, even if it's against our wishes.
