You mean,as in avoid paying at all?
What if you decide not to go through with it?
You'd be left with a bill you can't pay.

So not only are you going to leave the hotel staff with a body to find and clean up, but also you're going to not pay for the room that they provided to you?

Please have some consideration and either pay for the room, or do it elsewhere.

Agreed. You can't put the hotel staff through the trauma especially if they aren't being paid for it. It isn't fair on them.

I think they ask for a deposit and have your card details so they can automatically take the amount you owe off your card. Don't know how it works with cash.

idk where youre from but in england you always pay on the day of check out, put your card details when you pay online, they wont ask for payment until you leave because usually people buy drinks and stuff which they add to the end bill so youd pay after all that, i dont really agree with people who are telling you to pay, if its a large chain hotel not a family owned business, the workers wont lose money the chain will and they can afford to lose one nights worth

I understand where you're coming from, but I dont think it's for you to say what they can or cant afford to lose. By that notion I can go into my local supermarket and fill up my pockets and then leave.

And just because they dont lose money themselves, it doesnt mean that they wont find it insulting or take exception to it.

It's really not that deep if they don't get money for one night's stay. In the UK, you pay at checkout

I also don't see a problem with them losing money. It will be worse for them to find you, but nothing in comparison to the pain you have to be going through to suicide.

Not sure what the score is here, actually.

It is funny to see people caring so much about the hotel staff and people in general. If we r here it is mainly because how bad society is treating us. So fuck the hotel staff and don't forget to offer yourself a great meal from the hotel.

It is crazy how a bad person i am becoming. I just realized it

Not everyone is here because of how society are treating them. A lot of people are hear for physical or mental health issues.

My own family are the reason I'm here. No need to take it out on people who haven't wronged me, IE hotel staff.

Since OP asked a specific question, let's nudge things back on track:

I would like to ctb in a hotel and I want to know if I could pay at checkout since I don't have much money.

When you reserve a hotel they will ask for credit (or debit) card information.

  • If you reserve one night, they will debit the cost right then.
  • If you reserve more than one night, they will record your credit information but won't actually charge anyanything. At the end of your stay (the day specified in your initial reservation) you pay the full amount at the desk. You can pay with the card you used to make the initial reservation, with a different card, or with cash. As long as the hotel gets their money, they're happy.
  • If the room is not paid for upon the checkout date, or there are additional charges (such as, oh for example, removing a dead body) it will be debited from the credit card used to make the initial reservation.
  • If there is insufficient funds or the room stay is otherwise not paid in full, the hotel will send you a snotty letter (address specified when you make the reservation) and/or turn it over to a collection agency.
We can debate the ethics of reserving a room you have no intention of paying for, but to answer OP's question that is how hotel reservations work.

yes you could because theyre a business and not a small one, i dont agree with "robbing" small businesses. im pretty sure they arent gonna be worrying that someone didnt pay their hotel bill when theyre laying there dead
Morally, its wrong, IMO.

by saying that then you may aswell say its morally wrong to ctb in a hotel room, theyre going to be more concerned about the dead body not the fact they didnt pay

You can't even check in unless it's preauthorized or paid in cash for room/tax.
So it's not even debatable

I dont agree with robbing anyone, whether small or large business. On your other point about the finding of the body being worse, I do agree - but someone has to find your body either way, so it's sort of necessary, isn't it? The not paying for the room part just seems avoidable, hence why I'm more against it.

i mean it isnt avoidable since they clearly cant afford it and dont want to scar their family though

large businesses refund people all of the time for like no reason, maybe they didnt like the bed i dont know but trust they wont be affected whatsoever just because one person didnt pay for one night like they legit wont see a difference

As a hotel manager I can tell you that you need a Credit or debit card to book a room. Once you check in either two things will happen, you will be asked to pre auth your card. Basically that means that the hotel will authorise your card for the cost of room eg £150 but they will not take payment. If you choose not to have a pre auth then you will have to pay cash in full for your room.
so therefore if at time of checkout and youve ctb, then the hotel will go ahead nd authorise your card.
I've never worked anywhere that allowed to pay on checkout without some sort of payment, if you can't pay for your room the day you check in normally they won't let you stay.

So at check in .. you never had to provide a credit or debit card for preauthorization?

i understand you actually pay when you leave...but you must provide a payment method at check in.. otherwise anyone could just leave without paying if no preauthorization is done.
no hotel can afford to operate this way .

Exactly and when you check out you don't need to provide the card again because they just charge it with total amount.. but if you didn't go to the desk to check out, they'd charge it anyway... get the point? They preauthorize to avoid being stiffed at checkout

i always had to provide my card to pay when i checked out. they didnt take it from the card i provided online, my ex girlfriend and i also paid with cash when we left a hotel before she didnt have money in her card so i guess it depends where you go
