Half of my largest hesitation (outside of the care of my pets) is that I don't want my adoptive parents to incur all of my debts. How do I keep that from that from happening preemptively? I was adopted when I was 12, lived with my AP for maybe 3-4 years of that, and so we are not close or get along at all. I rarely speak to them unless I feel obligated, for many serious reasons. Anyway the point is, however much we don't get along, I don't wan't my actions to be tied to them. I am almost 26, how do I separate us?? How do I ensure they don't have to carry my financial decisions if I bite the bullet??! I have a lot of students loans specifically? I have a lot of guilt over the concept of loose ends, even if it's just a messy bedroom.

Unless the cosigned they aren't responsible for anything. you're an adult. only your spouse might.
