Applying for a license is the obvious answer but given my medical records I don't think it would be allowed and I don't have the energy to go through all that for nothing. If they think I'm going to use it on myself they should let me

Go to one of the roughest areas in your town where you can purchase one on the black market

I'm fortunate (unfortunate?) that there aren't really any areas that rough

If you can put together the money, take a trip to the US, to a state where private sales are allowed.

Buy a 12 gauge shotgun with an 18.5" barrel and 00 shot. Highest chance of success out of all methods.

There's farms near to me and I know they keep guns. It's annoying

I have been looking for a gun for a while and I'm also in the uk. Applying and being accepted for a legit hunting license is out of the question for me due to my mental health history. The only other options are:
  1. going onto the deep web and getting one from a market then having it mailed - though it's risky getting it through customs and likely to be seized*
  2. going onto the deep web and getting one from a market/forum but meeting up with the dealer irl - this is risky too because there are so many undercover officers online that it could not be legit and then you're fucked*
  3. going to a market/dealer elsewhere in europe since there are a few (supposedly) in belgium and eastern european countries
  4. stealing one from someone you know (if you know someone who has obtained a gun license and has one or maybe just also has one ilegally)
  5. stealing one from someone you don't personally know but you know they have guns (also extremely risky, though maybe you'll be lucky enough that they fatally shoot you lol)
  6. Travel to a country with loose gun laws (u.s.) and find someone who does private sales
Those are the only options I can think of for myself but your best bet is going online or to a market in another country.

*You also don't know who you're chatting to when online, they could be undercover officers or they could scammers.. so you either get sentenced or your money stolen.

obviously it also makes it easier if you have the right connections online too so that they can provide you with onion links for legit sites

Don't risk it. 5 years prison if you're caught with it, plus extra time for ammo. I know the type of people who sell them and if you're soft, you're just going to get robbed. Acquiring one legally is quite a process. Forget it if you have criminal or mental health records.
