Help How to find carotid artery without adams apple?

I've decided my method is going to be partial suspension, but I cant seem to find the carotid artery that it requires. I can't black out no matter how much I try and practice. I'm starting to lose hope with the method.

There's one on either side of the throat\neck. Feel just to side of the wind pipe and move backwards. Once you feel a pulse you should have it. Repeat on other side.

Not sure if it matters, it was easier to find with my right hand (dominant) than left. I am male and have an Adam's apple but can never really get it with my non-dominant hand (left) Hope that helps.
