hey, I've been a long time lurker on here trying to build up the courage to finally ctb. after a while of knowing that this is how my final chapter ends i have built up the courage to attempt, but the problem is that i don't know how i can/should do it. I'm 19 so i don't have a job and live with my parents, and the uni i go to is close enough that my dad drops me off every day while going to work, as such i don't have any place i could go secretly to get the stuff needed to ctb. on top of that i also don't have much money, the little i do have being cash, so i am totally clueless on how i could do it. the last and biggest concern s the body, i don't want to be found in a gory scene, i want a fast and elegant way to go, preferably painless as well (though that part is optional) so does anyone have any ideas or advice that i could use to end the chapter? if you need more information about me to help or just don't want to give help publicly please pm me, thanks in advance!

I don't know I'm from Canada and I'm waiting for them to pass medical assistance in dying for mental illness on March 2027. I guess I can't bring myself to attempt to end my life but maid would be guaranteed

You could try to get sn
thats practically impossible to do in canada, most are either scams or gov fishing sites, the only way i could theoretically do it is if i order it from another continent and have it shipped here, and even then there is a chance that my parents would get it before me.

I don't think MAID Track 3 or whatever they'll call the mental illness only part will ever happen.

1) Poilievre has said if he gets in power (which is very likely given how Trudeau is handling things) that he will abolish MAID. If not in it's entirety, then at the vary least all non terminal tracks of it.

2) Last year a PC MP tried to pass a bill to change the criminal code to make performing MAID illegal since they didn't have the ability to abolish MAID. They were going to try to criminalise it. The LIberals, NDP, and Block joined together to vote it down. But obviously all the PC party supported it and they are likely to win the next election before 2027.

3) There's a coalition of 5 disability rights groups and 2 plaintiffs that have recently filed Charter violations against the gov claiming things like MAID Track 2 (and 3 in the future) are unfairly targeting people with disabilities and is forcing them to die instead of offering them treatment. So they claim it's a violation of 2 sections of the Charter of Human Rights and also trying to get it abolished. Even in their own filing they state that they believe that only people that are terminal should have access to euthanasia for unbearable suffering.

Sorry for the bit of a rant. I've been trying to get MAID here as a painless way to end the pain of autism for over 2 and a half years now and am further from getting it than I was when I started. I don't know a painless way for you unless you fall under MAID Track 1 or 2 now.

Myself, I'm likely resorting to SN or a noose before too long as I've about given up on getting MAID even though I know I qualify for it. I can't convince anyone that I actually do. Even though I was able to prove that autism is not a mental health condition and as such a valid reason to request MAID.

thanks for the detailed response, and i hope that if Poilievre does win the upcoming election he doesnt abolish the maid track, i also hope that you are able to find the peace you wish for

Yeah some people are against it but it's the supreme court that ruled for it not the government

The Superior Court found the "reasonable foreseeability of natural death" eligibility criterion in the Criminal Code, as well as the "end-of-life" criterion from Québec's Act Respecting End-of-Life Care, to be unconstitutional.

I'm sorry you're going through this :(

I was in the same situation two years ago. Gave up on MAID cuz it probably will never be available for people who don't have a terminal illness of some kind.

The only easy and relatively painless methods I know of are suicide bag and SN. and unfortunately, they are both hard to set-up/buy :(

I know, although I think that disability rights coalition doesn't know or doesn't care. They have filed in Ontario courts to have anything other than Track 1 declared unconstitutional and have the Superior Court's ruling overturned.... I'm hoping that they fail.

I was told by a MAID doctor that if I was in Quebec instead of Ontario it might be easier to get MAID as they have different rules there as each province has their own subset of rules for MAID on top of the federal ones.

Since I've been watching this for a while now because I was told when I first applied that autism was a mental health condition (before I knew enough to prove otherwise). When the gov was taking in info from various organizations about the mental health expansion. One that particularly concerned me was a group of lawyers submitting to the gov that there was technically nothing that said the gov had to obey the Superior Court's ruling and encouraged them to ignore the mental health part of it altogether.

As others have stated, I hope our country continues to expand MAID and understands that just as we have the right to life we should have the right to death (in the same manner we have the right to freedom of thought and expression but also the right to silence). I work in healthcare and without a doubt I believe MAID has done so much to alleviate suffering, and I hope it is not forsaken by future governments.

Personally I plan to opt for firearms. They don't leave your body in pristine condition, but barring access to nembutal I believe it to be one of the best ways to go as it is an instant fatality with no chance of resuscitation if done correctly. The process of going through the RCMP to get a firearm can be anywhere from difficult to impossible though, if you are diagnosed with a mental condition or if people around you so much as know that you are suicidal. You have also said you want an elegant death and that you don't have much money and are worried about your parents finding things, so I assume this is off the table. I am in a similar circumstance.

Otherwise I think hanging is the best option. As far as accessible methods requiring minimal materials go, it is probably the best. All you need is a rope, anchor point, and to be alone for a few hours. It also seems to be reliable compared to other methods, and it is the most common method of suicide in Canada.
