I think you can use almost anything that holds your weight, you dont even need a rope really. I've seen people doing it with scarfs, phone chargers, belts and even trouser. But obviously, a pretty thick rope would work best. Have a look online, ebay would be the best place to look. You can find whatever rope you want, pick thickness and length then get it delivered straight to your door for a reasonable price!

The first thing to consider is anything can being chosen as ligature, as long as it can stretch your neck and bring the sufficient pressure to your trachea or carotid to faint out. Secondly, it must being able to loop it up and not to slip away or being undone the knot easy. Third, try to pull down it with your hand to see if doesn't release from the point of attachment. Remember, the ligature will support your body weight when you passing away.
