How to break window of a tall building

Does it take much more than a sledgehammer and one or two swings?

Would it be easy to break the window and jump out before the police arrive?

It really depends on the glass. There a various grades of safety glass. The better stuff is near impossible to break through. The individual panes are often laminated with plastic foil, keeping the pane together even when cracked. When trying, use a hard, pointed instrument at the corners of the pane. So a fire axe maybe.

This. Do your research. I think your best bet is nailing it in one corner of the pane as hard as you can.

Good question in my country there aren´t many tall buildings the only one I can think of is a hospital 10+ storys and they have those anti suicide things on the windows so you can´t open them all the way and I bet the glass is very strong I wondered the same thing as you a few years ago.

The windows in the hopsital I mentioned above I am sure a chair would bounce right off.

It will work faster if you use a type of glass cutter to score the area first and then swing. Make sure that you score (scratch/etch) a large X as deep as you can and swing the hammer hard at the center of said X. Don't ask me how I know.
