  • Hey Guest,

Today, OFCOM launched an official investigation into Sanctioned Suicide under the UK’s Online Safety Act. This has already made headlines across the UK.

This is a clear and unprecedented overreach by a foreign regulator against a U.S.-based platform. We reject this interference and will be defending the site’s existence and mission.

In addition to our public response, we are currently seeking legal representation to ensure the best possible defense in this matter. If you are a lawyer or know of one who may be able to assist, please contact us at admin@sanctioned-suicide.net.

i vent a lot on my twitter account and mention suicide sometimes without going into detail. some people on there know of my address and i'm scared my posts will one day be taken "out of context" and the cops will be called on me. would it be easy to deny suicidality if this happens and just close the door on any authorities? what are my rights and shit.

You could explain the situation away by saying that you have been feeling unwell lately, but I believe that it would be best if you didn't share such thoughts through Twitter. After all, you have found this community, and no one here will judge you for feeling down or having severe personal problems that have led you to such thoughts

I think it depends what you say on twitter ie how credible your threats are, for wAnt of a better term. You can play it down, I'm sure! Plenty of people use hyperbole in all kinds of situations. In my professional experience (UK) it usually takes a lot to section someone

Tbh, your "rights" don't really mean all that much. Police supposedly need proof you are in immediate harm to yourself before detaining you, but I can tell you from experience cops will throw you in handcuffs if they have so much as a hunch. If the police do get called, I'd recommend not being confrontational. Just answer the door and deny any claims they bring against you.

Obviously, it's preferable you don't get the cops called on you whatsoever. I'd say just block anyone you suspect might tattle-tale and maybe be a bit vague with how you talk about it, but it's just kind of an inherent risk sharing that info with people who know you personally.

I think it depends in what country you live. When you need to vent on Twitter, start each vent Tweet with the word, "Hypothetically". You can hypothetically talk about anything you want to, at least in the US. That's that pesky First Amendment thing.

You can do that. Whether it holds up or not depends on a million things

Why do you spread personal info and why do you tell everybody that you want to die ? I do not use (a)social networks and do not share personal details on this forum or on the internet in general. Absolutely nothing !

It seems to me that if someone really calls the police and the police arrive, you can simply say that everything you wrote was just a provocation, a way to observe the reaction of someone you know, for example. A social experiment, hah
But this is just a guess. In fact, i don't know what to do in such situations, because where i live, the police wouldn't give a fuck
