So how do I know I truly want to CBT?
Are there any like red flags or good questions to ask yourself before considering CBT?

Like I am pretty chill with the idea of death, so it doesn't take a lot of mental effort for me to do it. I had like moments of excitement weeks ago while researching CBT (I had strong suicidal ideations for 3 years now, but only now starting to actually plan things), but now I am just numb and preparation is starting to feel like a chore lol

I mean ideally you should be 100% sure. I'm not sure what warnings you would really look for or what questions you would ask yourself. This is an incredibly personal decision and one you have to decide for yourself for whatever reasons. You have to look at your life, what's leading you there, what purpose it's meant to serve. Each experience and individual is different, no one can tell you if you want to except for yourself.

Could you give me an example of what makes you want to CBT (if you do want to that is)?

I guess when this seems the only viable or desirable option. As long as you have any thoughts about being uncertain if this is your best choice I'd say give life a chance. CTB remains available, however once you go for it it's a one way trip.

The thing pushing me to CBT is that I am hardly able to manage my responsibilities, failing uni, relationships go to shit etc. I am soon to be 20 and I keep repeating my mistakes from childhood. And if I do manage to get a hold of my chaotic life through sheer brute will then the amount of suffering will be a lot greater than pleasure derived.

Honestly, if I had decent parents, social circle up to this point and less lazy brain I would be a lot more functional ans therefore less suicidal

In my opinion everyone has their own reasons for cbt, and everyone knows when to do it, but it i can give my opinion on it:
If you're already so sure about it and dont feel any worry towards it, you don't need to ask us, you know.
I'd recomend making sure you're not leaving any loose ends.
Make sure that even though you suffered, you could make sure that you were aware of consequences and could rationally consider the whole thing

Do you want an earlier death or at least prefer an earlier death over staying alive? Keep in mind that suicide doesn't cause death per se as you will die anyway but rather that suicide will cause you an earlier death if you were to succeed with the attempt. Is that what you want? If this isn't what you want, imo, you shouldn't ctb. Also, perhaps keep in mind at how early you want your death to be if you do want an earlier death. After all, death is inevitable anyway and, unless if something unfortunate happens that hinders your ability to ctb, you could always ctb later

I would definitely prefer not being born, but the ship had sailed. If there was a button to make everyone forget me, and I could just go poof, I would press it (even when I experience joy, oddly enough). I have doubts now, because now I will cause damage with my CTB
