• Hey Guest,

Over the past year, increased regulatory pressure in multiple regions like UK OFCOM and Australia's eSafety has led to higher operational costs, including infrastructure, security, and the need to work with more specialized service providers to keep the site online and stable.

If you value the community and would like to help support its continued operation, donations are greatly appreciated. If you wish to donate via Bank Transfer or other options, please open a ticket.

I think some threads of @DarkRange55 don't get the attention they deserve. Lol. Sorry for sucking you off. Maybe because they are sometimes sort of complicated and not all of us have the mental resources to spend energy on a topic in such a depth.

I have the feeling extremely detailed takes are not that appreciated on the internet. In general I think the discussions on SaSu have a high quality considering the honesty and compassion. It is a very good place to talk about stigmatized issues in an uncensored way. But we are no intellectuals and there are no academic discussions on here.

It is a nice chat. But I have the feeling the politics subforum is more part of the media discourse itself. And I am contributing to it. We vent about politics as we think of it. We share our opinions to feel better. But it is rather seldom to discuss empirical evidence, variables, mediators etc. I am not sure whether the main goal of the discourse in politics is finding the truth or just to set a certain narrative.

What do you think?

Can't really seperate this forum from the wider social media landscape, many of us here use them too. I honestly think viewpoints are actually more extreme here but people either contain them to vents that others don't engage with, try to understand but provide a different viewpoint or agree entirely, because suicide is the main motivator here while those circumstances are just side contributers.

These days everything runs on algorithms. At least this place is safe. The forum's self selection brings out more direct and extreme views. Some users here may feel they don't have anyone else to speak with about broader issues. So this space can serve that purpose. The kind of political discourse we see in the news tend to revolve around persuasion, group signaling, and framing rather than deep analysis. Still, that doesn't mean we can't explore topics using statistics and evidence. Feel free to start a discussion.
