I must confess that is longer than I thought. But it makes sense that it's not as rapid as an injection.

Time to death isn't that interesting anyway. The more important metric is time until unconscious. With N you fall asleep within 5-10 minutes with very little discomfort. Then you pass away in your sleep

I know N is most people's fantasy method but just because the animals in the videos don't move doesn't mean it's painless or anything like sleep. We don't know what the experience is beneath the paralysis. Some forensics specialists have speculated that it's like drowning, though I'm not sure I trust that source (it was in an anti-death penalty article (I oppose the death penalty too but still question that article)).

Yes but think about all the people who have been put under for surgery. That is obviously a peaceful and non-traumatic process or else no one would willingly go under for surgery. But most who have done it report that it was no big deal and it was peaceful. I would highly bet that going to sleep with Nebutal is similar if not identical to being put under during surgery.

That's a fair point, and I think the logic behind the inert gas method too.

The only part about N I don't understand is why it's given on its own. When people go under for surgery they also get painkillers so whatever is going on in their body is painless. It's bizarre that the recommendation has always been to take N alone instead of with opioids, even if only to be safer in terms of peacefulness. If I ctb with N I will try to add opioids. Maybe there's an interaction that would counteract the goal if you mix them but on first blush it seems like adding them together would only improve things.

Hmm not sure on the logic to not add painkillers. Maybe just increases the risk of vomiting. When you're put under for surgery they give the med intravenously so the risk of throwing up is very small
