I'm curious really. Just how much education have you gone through? Do you feel like it was worthwhile? Are you now doing a job in your specialist area? Does that make you happy(ish) or unhappy?

Sorry- I expect the poll is a bit limited really. I know there are SO many courses out there and it's likely different in different countries.

Two bachelor's degrees in two different fields, plus some years of work experience in an third, unrelated field after dropping out of uni for the first time. I've had a bit of a hard time figuring out what to do with my life, if you can't tell. :)

Currently, my work has nothing to do with any of those three fields, and I kind of like that. I've come to realise that I got into those fields because I was desperately trying to satisfy some external expectations, not because it was something I wanted to do. In fact, I rarely felt accomplished or good while I was working in any of those fields. It just felt incredibly meaningless.

Still, while my current job is alright, it's not something that is viable in the long term. But things are starting to make some sense, and I've been immersing myself in yet another field of study, which I do find fascinating. Who knows, I might even bite the bullet and go for another degree in the near future. If nothing else, I'll have a lot of stuff to decorate my walls.

Bachelor's degree in Psychology.
Chose it to "help myself".
Helped others, but not myself.
Never worked in the field of my studies.

I only have a professional education in electronics which I have never been able to work because I was approved without reaching the required level (the studies were terminated and they made general approvals).
I got my degree in 1999 and that's where it stayed.

But I have trained in fine arts on my own with non-regulated training and one course of regulated training which I did not complete due to anxiety.

//

Bachelor's degree. Working in the specialist field.

University life and exposure was useful. Degree was not. Job is decent, not sure if I like it but I don't see if there's anything else I clearly like right now. Counts as semi-happy I guess.

Only one year of college. Stopped because of back then circumstances. Never regretted though. I chose my line of work and I do good at it. The only thing I would replace it with, would be a work from home job, if I found something to earn the same and keep my lifestyle. Being among people is soul destroying. Not the customers, the ones that you have to see everyday...

I have a master's degree and am currently working in the field I studied, but in a different aspect of it than I wanted. Am honestly ambivalent about seeing if I can transfer to something that might get me closer to my goals. Change is scary.
Would also love to pursue further education in the same field and study more of the specialization I'm most interested in. But at the same time I doubt that I would have the self-discipline to succeed at a PhD.

Only Highschool Degree. In hindsight I only Graduated because of help in Special Education and having assignments toned down for me specifically. Even if I wanted to do College which as of now since I left Highschool I do not want to do at all, I wouldn't know what I'd want to Major in.
