How easy or difficult is it to buy a gun in the US as a foreigner ?

I booked my stay in the US for this summer in a state that's apparently very liberal when it comes to selling firearms

Could someone who lives in a liberal state tell me how easy or difficult it is to buy a gun for a foreigner, more specifically for someone coming from Europe ?

Of course my plan is to use it on myself only

You will have to do some research. It is harder for a visitor. You may need to get a hunting license or something. Each state has its own laws.

Legally it would be quite difficult on a non immigrant visa. You'd have to get a hunting license and go through those hoops or get one illegally, which wouldn't be the easiest.

I am an US citizen and I would agree with the other posters that it will be very, very difficult to legally acquire a firearm in the US if you aren't a citizen and as a foreigner. Even if you try to find a 'loophole', getting caught would result in really serious legal consequences, so realistically I would say you most likely would not be able to legally acquire a firearm.

Also, I'm not a lawyer so this isn't legal advice, but just my basic understanding of firearms laws as a layperson.

Yeah, no, you'd need to actually be a legal resident of that state to benefit from their liberal gun laws.
Of course, there may be not-so-legal options for those who know where to look.
