Hello people reading this, I've been struggling a lot lately with my mental health again, and I feel like my mother is not making it any better. I would like to tell her about my previous attempt to end my life, but I'm absolutely terrified of what her reaction will be. I'm scared that she will try to take stuff away from me or something, since I still live under her roof.

Hello - sorry for what you've gone through. I get that'll feel awkward. What sort of stuff - do you have materials for methods around?

I have no idea how to word it out to her honestly

Maybe writing it out first would help to say it. I guess you could even give it to her, as a sort of brief letter explaining it if you're too anxious to tell her at all.

Some questions to consider before talking to your mom: Do you think there's any chance your mom knowing you attempted would help her feel more empathetic towards you? Has she shown empathy towards you about important things in the past?

I know you had a bad experience talking to her at therapy. I'm wondering how your next therapy session will go, if you will talk to your therapist about how you felt about it, if your therapist knows you attempted. I'm thinking if your therapist is empathetic about how the last session affected you, maybe they can help you talk to your mom about it.

I hope you get the support you need <3

Expanding on this a little; there might be some ways to get across the feelings you want to share to her without actually mentioning the actions you took. I'd definitely way the outcomes before making a decision. You might find its easier to deal with these emotions on your own than suffer the consequences she brings upon you for admitting to attempting suicide. The topic has a weird way of making people feel like they've been personally attacked. Like they believe you're telling them they've somehow failed to help you or that you don't wish to be apart of their life anymore. It's a common perspective I've seen before so just be aware. I hope you make it through what's going on. Good luck!

If you're concerned she'll take away your stuff from you maybe you should hold back on telling her until you move out.

That is unless of course you need her help in some way.
