By making sure you die 100%. Otherwise, there's an extremely high risk of brain damage (which scares me lots)

Wear a helmet? You're either committed or you're not ready. This is why people don't mess around with trying to kill themselves unless they are absolutely OK with the consequences

How do you ensure that?
So if I hyperventilate and pass out, it should be enough to do the work, right? Even if my legs are touching the ground..

By doing it correctly. Please research and practice before trying.

I'm ok with the consequences of death.

I've done lots of research. What are the mistakes people make that lead to brain damage?

I can't say I'm too knowledgeable. The best answer I can give is to use a sui method with high chance and low pain like shotgun to head, but thats of course assuming you can get ahold of one.

Lol i'm sure this is a joke but wearing a helmet isn't going to prevent anything as the brain damage occurs due to lack of oxygen to the brain for too long therefore the brain or parts of it die off.

It's either hanging or jumping. Jumping would involve a half day drive, climbing a barrier, and hesitation. Jumping also terrifies me.

What are the dangers of convulsing? Would a tight slip knot shift causing brain damage?

Well I'm not expert but the usual case is; someone finds you, or you somehow manage to get yourself off after your brain has run out of oxygen for some time.
So any way of avoiding those two will ensure this won't happen.

How do you avoid the second?

A strong rope or some type of specialized knot that would deal with a struggle. I saw mentions of convulsions during or after hangings and yes that definitely happens to some people, it may not be strong enough to get you off though.

Would a snuggle hitch knot plus a good amount of the rope wrapped around the metal bar be enough you think? The weight would be pulling on the rope wrapped around. The knot would be next to it as an anchor.

I think it would do, yeah.

If your rope is secure and you're certain not to be found early, you won't be alive to worry about brain damage. If you're concerned that you will unconsciously try get the rope off, handcuff yourself or find another way to bind your hands.

Brain damage doesn't necessarily mean vegetative state right?

you gotta succeed or stop before damage occurs, there is no other way tbh

I'm not a expert but it's either dye at once or caught immediately and being cured at the hospital. In the case of hanging it's almost inevitable to get a brain damage if you don't dye at once.

Would you jump? It doesn't have the risk of brain damage unless you pick a low spot. Problem is it's a scary method.

Damage occurs after your brain is left oxygen deprived for too long, maybe a minute or so?

Be sure about exit.
Find a place where no one finds you, at least for 5-6 hours.
Strong rope and anchor point.

i believe your brain has to be deprived of oxygen for 2 minutes or longer. Although, I believe there are instances in which it can take longer.

It is an interesting question to ask how not to get brain damage when hanging precludes damaging the brain until it no longer functions.

I failed an attempt and I'm unsure at what stage I came to. I do know that my entire body had intense cramps, my face was spotted with burst veins, and my throat had visible bruising. I'm in constant question of my cognitive abilities, trying to challenge them with most of the dense material I usually work with. I do know that my mood (and I mean this in a universal and interpretive sense) has changed in a radical way, but that may come from the intense shame and trauma of the event.
