Hi, I am curious how you people actually find out about this site. It doesn't really show up on the main search engines and obviously isn't widely advertised, so I'm just curious. I had someone already knowing about it telling me it exists.

I enjoyed internet drama, which led me to a certain New Zealand agriculture website. This site would get brought up because they're in a similar situation, controversial subject matter with groups wanting to take down the site.

Unbelievably, I found a post about it on another regular forum. I don't understand how they've posted it over there, but they did and it never got taken down. Seems like some places are at least understanding of the need of a forum like SASU.

For me personally, I started seeing news articles regarding a so called suicide forum. Eventually I saw a search result for ss. Its being pushed further down the search results but once you look past the numbers for different suicide support groups it is still available as a search result.

As odd as it sounds... Youtube lol. Let me explain, so there was some video done about this site (i have reasons to believe it was this site) and how some teenager who took his life was useing the forum talking about methods etc. First time I watched the video I thought it was horrible, but moved on with my life and forgot. It was only after I started to sh which lead to my depression which lead to some suicidal ideation that I rediscovered the video, and googled in some sort of special phrase ( I don't remember what i googled) or tbh it could have been on a different engine (i.e. duck duck go, brave)

And the rest is history I guess...

Was googling suicide forums, came upon an old article, cant remember where from? the times maybe? was bored and went on the darkweb and found it on there then just bookmarked it on a normal browser and joined.

trueee, like uhhh i dont know who he interact with but ppl on this site does not "celebrate" about ppl ctb-ing, they just send hope or wish that they have peace, and they do not encourage you to ctb... like what kind of users he's interacting?....

I was looking up methods to CTB on reddit and a user referenced this site indirectly. Very grateful i was able to find this site and learn about SN or I would have went with a scarier less effective method.

I was on YouTube looking at videos of people who attempted suicide. I was only watching to see what they did wrong so I could do it right! That guy Tantura something video showed up eventually. He didn't mention this site in a pleasant way, and highly advised anyone from visiting this site. During his video against this item he made it seem as this site gave guaranteed methods and people would cheer you on! I thought, this is exactly what I needed, so I went searching for this site, because I wanted out! What I quickly learned was that video was so far from the truth and a gross exaggerating of this site. I posted my method and waited for everyone to approve it and cheer me on. What happened was people actually advised against my method and posted links supporting people who attempted my method and how it didn't work. I remember someone saying something like, "Hey, let's just talk for a minute about how you're feeling!" I didn't take all the advice saying don't do it, but I was able to find comfort and peace while I took my pills, but they didn't know this. They were all right, it didn't work and I became so sick and miserable, if only I had listened. So that's how I initially found the site. Everyone has been so sweet and so nice, I couldn't be happier that I found this place.

Saw the tentacrul video over two years ago. Kept being tempted to come here but resisted, because he described it as such a horrible place. Like you entered and they shot you in the face.
And then in a burst of desperation decided to come to end it all. Turns out it did the quite opposite.
Still find it incredibly ironic how bad that missfired for him. A LOT of people learned of this place and came here just out of that video. It was a sort of anti-ad.

I actually wish it would be re-stuck there. It might make these 'do-gooder' journalists and You Tubers reconsider what they're doing- as in- refering a whole bunch of suicidal people to a site which gives them method information!

Personally, I was grateful. I'm sure a lot of other people were too but- there's a whole lot less filter on who sees their media. I was already suicidal. Had been decades prior. I was actively looking for somewhere like this. I think that's how it ought to happen though- organically.

Longer term members will likely remember that, since the Tantacrul video hit and seeing as I don't think he age restricted it initially, the site was swamped with very young members. No doubt a lot of minors tried to join and some likely did sneak in too.

I'd argue these journalists inadvertantly 'advertise' the place to a whole lot of people. If they truly believe it's that dangerous, it's so irresponsible to do that!

Personally, I don't think it's the 'death cult' it's made out to be. However, it is predictably a very negative space. We tend to share a fairly negative perpective of the world and our prospects of living in it. I don't think that necessarily is the best environment for some people. So, it seems stupid to advertise it to lots of people!

Tantacrul's video, didn't actually find out what it was called until a friend posted about it though. Find it funny how he tried to demonise this site and get it shut down, but ended up boosting it's popularity more than anything else has.

I wanted to find a suicide forum, so I searched "suicide forum", with relative ease I found my way here. Think I found it through Wikipedia, might be wrong, and it's predecessors the sub reddit and alt suicide holiday.

Just checked and this site comes up if you type "suicide forum" into Bing.

I actually downloaded tor to search for a site like this in the deep web. I didn't find anything useful, except for this one comment on a thread about suicide saying that the OP should look for this site. I was very surprised that this site is in the 'normal' web, because it never appeared in any of my researches on google.
