No, I mean without committing suicide, like things that you can do to make it shorter without killing yourself. I was told that my lifespan would be long. Is there anything that I can do to decrease it? Sometimes I eat burnt food in hopes of inducing cancer. I haven't been sleeping well lately so I think my sleep deprivation will also decrease my lifespan

I read this new preliminary study in Nature the other day in which researchers found that suicide may dramatically reduce the lifespan. Although they said that more studies and placebo-controlled intervention trials are needed to draw real conclusions.

This !

any 'slow suicide' methods are unreliable. Living an unhealthy lifestyle is likely to shorten you lifespan and increase risk of things like heart disease and cancer - eating unhealthy, no exercise, drinking heavily, drug use, smoking, taking risks. However it's not guaranteed as also down to genetics, others environmental factors out of your control and even just luck I guess. For example, you hear like people in their 90s being asked what their secret is and there's always one who is like 'cigarette and whisky for breakfast' .

Why without committing suicide? Don't want to do it?

It is a bad idea for 2 reasons
1) you will decrease the quality of your life making your suffering much more worse than it already is.
2) in the far future you may have a change of attitude about life and dying and want to enjoy it for more years except the body you have battered ruthlessly over the years won't be able to sustain you for longer and will be left with regrets and pain.

Have your genes tested for genetic susceptibility to the most deadly diseases, and then focus on lifestyle factors that may increase your chances of developing the disease. Try to focus on maintaining your health span while decreasing your life span. This will be extremely difficult, if not impossible, though as most diseases in the modern world have a greater effect on your health span than on your life span.

Suicide is just making your life shorter really quickly.

Where do you draw the line between making your life shorter and suicide, if you die in less than a week then it's suicide?

From personal experience of chronic problems I wouldn't advise this, don't get me wrong we all want a way out and your life and your decisions, I am no way pro suicide or pro living I'm 100% on individual autonomy. I stick by the principles of Your body your choice but the slow/gradual and perhaps even eventual speeding up of the decline of your physical and or mental health which could take years is not advised. At that point where you get heart problems or lung issues or whatever it may be you may have actually gotten better or the pain becomes to much and makes your situation even worse.

I am of the belief that if it's bad and it will get worse you have two options; endure or end it prematurely.

My body doesn't work as it should and the chronic issues are crippling.

So really it's whether you want to endure a host of complications. It really is a roll of the dice if you neglect your health through drugs, alcohol, chemicals, etc etc.

stop eating food . Intake only water and salt.

But this is also a form of suicide.

Imo starvation is very painful.

I've tried that before and had to give up because I got hungry. I've also tried VSED but failed because I got thirsty. I might try water fasting again sometime though

Yeah I tried to stop eating but the hunger hit . The thirst for water is even worse pain.we are all a slave to our bodies. Constantly hungry for food , thirsty for water, need sleep and more . Also a slave to our minds needing constant stimulation or boredom sets in

Lowering your health and quality of life and appeal to other humans for decades in order to maybe die a few years earlier way down the road isn't a great idea.

it would be nice to shave off maybe like I don't know 30 years of life so instead of dying at 90 i could die at 60, but it's really not that simple. Being morbidly obese or having some sort of organ failure does not simply shorten your life, you are essentially experiencing a slow painful death

I'd take doing hard drugs + cigs + weed even if it meant sacrificing my longevity over being "healthy" any day of the week honestly.

Maybe smoking or eating a lot of junk food. If youre lucky you may also find some joy in one of those, lung cancer or obesity could be hurtful though. If you want to live shorther why not take some joy out of it. Drugs probably also shorten your lifespan, just be careful that they wont break u mentally.

I came here to say the same. I agree. I do a lot of these things. I don't want to get old, so I really don't care about something being healthy or not.
