In order to CTB, one should have 100% of certainty as it something that can't be undone.
However, while things look hopeless, there is always the possibility that the present is not final and things can change.
I mean, unless you are desperate, how do you achieve that level of rational certainty of being making the right choice?

For me the pain was overwhelming. There was nothing left to do. Even with our old friend standing in the way many days.

I'm not normal, what is in my mind isn't normal.

Maybe my mind can be fixed or whatever but then what? Live the remaining whatever decades doing bottom of the barrel jobs until my body breaks down.

Then I rot away in a rundown apartment waiting for death.

Miss me with that shit.

I'd recommend that one should reflect his life. The person should look at it completely objectively as if he'd be some sort of journalist. Then you can decide what to do

I think it's very hard to 100% determine if it's the right choice unless you're at one of the extremes. It's easy to say you want to CTB, but very hard to do in practice because despite everything, a lot of people who want to CTB have some sort of reason, not unlike those who want/choose to live.

If you're asking this relative to your own situation, I'd say you probably aren't but that's just my opinion. In order to be sure, you kind of have to let go of the idea that things will get better. The people who regret attempting to CTB are pretty much the ones who are somehow hopeful and are just driven to desperation.

Ask yourself if the future you're hoping for is realistic in some way. Think of how bad your situation is, is it relatively temporary? Are there achievable ways for you to improve it? If not, imagine yourself living the worst life you're willing to settle for. Can you live like that?

Yeah this is where I'm at. My mind both understands the reality of the future. It's not one I want.
SI keeps me here. I feel I can defeat it eventually

For me suicide would actually be something positive, it'd solve and bring me peace from what I see as the true problem which is existence itself, I'm certainly sure that I don't wish to be tortured in this futile, cruel existence for decades longer just to decay and face the agony of old age, existence truly is an abomination and all I see as desirable is being at true permanent peace, I find it so tragic how this existence that just causes harm and suffering with no limit as to how much one can be tortured was even imposed at all, for me non-existence is just all I see as desirable.

It's up to each person to decide what's best for them.
I am sure I prefer Non-existence forever to living or existing.

Not by a little but by a quintilion times

In eternal Non-existence I cannot suffer. Permanent Non-existence is as good as the worst torture is bad . i can be tortured extremely in many ways while I'm alive but not if I don't exist

Visualize the most beautiful environment or thing you can. Non-existence forever is a trillion times more beautiful than that to me

warning below I'm talking about tortures that they ve done to people to show how horrible life is and the kinds of pain and hell the brain can produce. They couldn't torture a dead corpse . Only an alive brain can suffer unlimited pain unbearable pain so bad a second of it makes everything else meaningless

Imo nobody would like to be skinned alive and left like that to suffer in unending unbearable pain for days weeks months alive with no skin. This level of torture can only happen while alive.

In eternal Non-existence I cannot suffer. Permanent Non-existence is as good as the worst torture is bad

For me it's a choice made completely lucidly because there is simply nothing in this life and nothing in this world that would change my situation. Even if I were to imagine or accept that there is some future in which I am happy and "healed" (which is not possible, but even if it was), it's not enough for me and I'm not okay with what happened to me. I consciously reject life even if there was the possibility that it could be good again.

@pthnrdnojvsc the argument from security from extreme pain has always struck me as a good one. There's a nonzero chance that something truly horrible could happen in your future

It's extremely hard to make the decision because of the impact on other people. I'm pretty damn sure I want to end my consciousness. At this point I'm suffering for others.

The only time for nonexistence was before we were born; Nonexistence is an agonising impossibility for someone who's alive. We don't even know if our consciousness dies after death. I wouldn't take that chance especially no one really knows what it's like. I'm sure I'll still fret like a housewife after death.

About torturing a corpse, when someone dies, their body looks like a suit that the occupant isn't wearing anymore. No use in torturing cadavers when there is no one inside it.

I suffer more from watching, than suffering itself, as suffering is more seen than felt.

Everything u said is completely wrong and unfathomable to me. After Death is Non-existence forever as before this hell was imposed on me.

To me Life is a hell a quadrillion times worse than the worst hell one can imagine. Everything especially the bait pleasure addictions are anchored to the evil and the most extreme torture

And that's ok. You firmly believe in that, mine was a statement of doubt and uncertainty which hinders me from attempting any further, aside from my person being terribly afraid of pain.

We don't know about the OP as surely they have their own reasons like any one of us.

I've waited five long years. At some point it's just time to call it a day. You can never be 100% sure - with rare exceptions - but you can be sure enough to know that it's not worth the continual struggle. That's how I see it anyways.

For me I reached a breaking point and realized that I am just a broken person from the inside. i whole heartedly believe that I cannot change. My negativity will always be there and my current circumstances make things even worse.

Yeah, I don't think in What Ifs. I look, I observe, I understand, I make a choice. Some people are confused. It happens a lot in the early stages of life. I'm way past those stages. I see now. CTB-ing is the best choice for me.
