The assisted dying bill in the UK.
By no means ideal, it's elitist AF but I still hope it 'makes it'.
It's a foot in the door isn't it?
And Lord how we need a foot in that door!
Won't help me, the slow way the wheels turnā€¦ā€¦but maybe in a few decades time there will be someone like me it can help. I do hope so.

I find it so cruel and horrible how it's not already available, all I hope and wish for is to painlessly cease existing, I'd always prefer to not exist than to suffer in this cruel, futile existence that I just see as waiting to die anyway, I'm always so tired of suffering in this existence.

It already is in some states, granted where I live it is only for those who have only 6 months of their life left, but it's there nonetheless.

I really don't know which way it'll go, there are a lot of outspoken people really against it. I just hope it passes, sick of hearing people say it'll be a slippery slope blah blah. It's the whole "vulnerable" people angle again-that they think people can't make their own decisions and they'd all be manipulated en masse. I just think it's bollocks.

Yes but it's limited and not available in all states so people are left to suffer or find their own way out.
Some good news is

Oregon and Vermont also allow for non residents. Slowly...moving in the right direction.

The horror stories of survival and lack of access are all that are keeping me here. These wins are coming far too slowly.

Same here. Afraid to fail and no painless way to go. It got shot down in West Virginia in last week's ballot. They are actually putting in their state constitution that medical aid in dying is banned for any reason.

It won't become law, and even if it did, it still doesn't help those of us who are physically disabled, or suffer constant pain.
