The hidden brain podcast has an episode about fighting despair .
It talks about how cynicism can shape our view about the world in a harmful way,
making it a self-fulfilling prophecy.
One could argue that people and society really are evil. Certainly there is a lot of bad in the world.
It is not surprising that there is a lot of cynicism on SaSu, but I feel it is possible
to become less so, at least that is my personal experience, and I feel it
contributes to my well being.
The takeaway from the podcast is to try to replace cynicism with "hopeful skepticism",
to my understanding to be willing to look at the world the way it is and be
willing to be surprised for the better.
