This is a common anti-suicide message that people spew out "It's the cowards way out/easy way out". What does that exactly mean?

Even if suicide is easier than struggling in life, why is that bad? Why would I want something difficult when it doesn't benefit me??

Because people who never considered suicide think it's easy and selfish to kill yourself. They think we are weak and afraid of the uncertainty that is life, giving up because we can't take control of our lives. It's basically a matter of ignorance - they never tried to understand.

Actually, what do I know? I never saw it that way, so it's just speculation on my part.

There's a big societal thing about facing your problems and overcoming then and it making you stronger etc etc
I guess people see suicide as easier than facing those problems?

I can't say for sure bc it's not what I think

It's like an old friend said "life is what you make it". Well, no. I gave life my best shot, tried so fucking hard to be happy, to let things go with grace, to move on from trauma with my head held high.... but I simply wasn't built that way.

these people who say shit like this clearly haven't been in our position. Nobody can understand what it's like to be dying inside every day but still having to live. They see it as selfish because we are "giving up" instead of being strong and fighting through. It's all complete bullshit. Anyone who can reasonably expect another human being to live through unimaginable pain every day just because "life is a gift" can take their bullshit platitudes and piss right off.

You have to be inside the suicidal mind to judge. Everything is about perspective. It's not coward. We are fighting a constant battle inside our minds until we give up. It's not easy. And if someone says that to a suicidal person it would only make the situation worse.

They say this because:
A. They are extremely strong and brave
B. They are experts in resolving life issues
C. They are idiots and it was all they could think of

I doubt many of the people who say this would have the balls to drink SN or stick their head on some train tracks. Maybe they are so miserable with their lives but don't have the balls to do it so they think other's should just be miserable too.

Some people experience a great deal of suffering for which there is often no obvious solution or even sometimes no solution at all. In my experience, those who say suicide is cowardly usually don't understand that and are unwilling to listen because it makes them uncomfortable. I think they are the cowards and don't have much empathy.

It takes bollocks too comit suicide. They say it as they aren't in mental pain. If they were in mental pain they would say its brave to comit suicide. Who are they too judge.

Oh yes, I hate this manipulative, shaming statement that pro-lifers use to deter people from wanting to CTB/self-deliverance/find peace.

They say this because:
A. They are extremely strong and brave
B. They are experts in resolving life issues
C. They are idiots and it was all they could think of
I'd like to go with Option "C" for the majority of people, then a subset of A, and a super-subset of B.

In my experience, those who say suicide is cowardly usually don't understand that and are unwilling to listen because it makes them uncomfortable. I think they are the cowards and don't have much empathy.
Well said, and sadly, that's the majority of people in this world.

It's simple: they believe you're not strong enough to cope with whatever is making you feel suicidal and therefore you are acting cowardly if you take it as an option. Obviously it comes from a place of ignorance

It is just another phrase that gets repeated a lot. Popular phrases tend to get parroted and they spread. People think it because that is what others think, but they never stop to question it.

I think 99% is answer C.
