I think a psychological protocol should be developed to allow assisted suicide to be legal.

This protocol should last at least three years. If the person wants to ctb, then he or she should be allowed to legally.

Abortions were once illegal everywhere, but are now legal in most places. Why the same cannot be done for assisted suicide?

When abortions where made legal back in the 60s or whatever, a study over the years showed that crime was reduced due to aborted children not growing up to become criminals. I know this sounds awful.

Could we come up with stats how failed suicide attempts waste taxpayers money and make life awful for profit-based businesses?

Who should be our champion on Capitol Hill to push this cause?

Oh yeah, help develop a psychological protocol too.

Let's discuss.

Sadly, this will never develop. I am all for assisted suicide, but unfortunately, we don't get a word in, no matter how hard we try.

If it's legal to abort your unwanted child, then it should be legal for you to abort your life.

My life. My body. My choice.

I completely agree that this should be legal like in Switzerland and Belgium. Sadly it doesn't look like things are headed in that direction:notsure:

I agree that legislation around assisted suicide is not headed in the direction that we would like it to go, but why do you think that is? My opinion is that society needs to keep as many alive as possible in order to continue churning it's wheels, i.e.: corporations and governments need people, to me that is the bottom line. Otherwise countries that have adopted pro-choice stances in abortion should have adopted assisted suicide policies as well, in my opinion those go hand in hand. Of course I might just be oversimplifying things and I'm not taking into account costs surrounding such programs and whether they would be prohibitive to implementation, but then again how can countries like Belgium do it? It must be feasible, but just not interesting to those with the necessary influence for it to get the necessary traction.

Let's start off simple. Who should be the champion of this campaign?

Never say never.
