Ok, so I have this weird thought. I've seen concern across the forum a few times about aiming correctly/as planned in the moment. Maybe one figures adrenaline could mess things up. Maybe one could plan to take some drugs to chill out but is worried about it affecting aim, too. Maybe one is using a gun as a backup method (shooting oneself and falling or hanging oneself while holding a gun in case the suspension doesn't cause a quick enough unconsciousness). My thoughts are these:

After practicing lining up the muzzle as planned for one's self-inflicted GSW flavor of choice, I could feasibly use my other hand to mark in my head the top/bottom of where the barrel goes. And then.... get this... take small adhesive magnets, and maybe some super glue for the weapon, and put attracting magnet pairs on the marked spots on the head and the corresponding top and bottom of the barrel?

Like so:

Wow she's an artíste.

These magnets wouldn't be very noticeable, especially with hair or a hat in the way en route to a destination, and I wouldn't have to worry about getting positioning right in the moment, especially if a mirror wasn't available. This could also be helpful if there's concern about having to take the shot early because of the possibility of a rushed/forced decision suicide (idek, a cop is surprisingly in the area or something).

What do we think? Too silly? I feel like if it works, it works. I will definitely have to try this out. I can't imagine the magnets would be strong enough to prevent the slide from moving back, but maybe when that happens it could cause your grip to be pulled at enough of an angle by the now moving magnetic attraction of the top magnet? Maybe this could be avoided by instead placing the magnets in a vertical alignment, so one on either side? Like this?

Pos

I feel like the magnets could provide a useful tactile feedback to let me know whether I've got the placing right.

I'm thinking they'd have to be some pretty strong magnets? Meaning they would be expensive magnets. At least at the strength, and weight you'd need to pull that off. I have no idea as to effectiveness, because I belive what happens is SI causes a flinch at the moment you pull the trigger. Imagine how a person flinched when facing a rubber band finger gun. Something like that is my thought.

There are more then a few news articles about people who failed to ctb with a gun to the head. Yes I realize many don't. The issue is you are devising flinch counter measures. That may mean you are already flinching, and don't even have a weapon in your hand. ?

imo almost all things can be perfected by the right kind of practice every day.

guns are are 90% ctb. but imo with the right kind of practice, work and research this can go up to 99.9%. im many people have never even shot a gun and many l are definitely are not expert shooters who attempt but still it's 90% . imo hardly anyone who attempts does hours of practice to specifically practice the ctb act.

if someone offered you 10 million dollars if in 3 months you could play a piano concerto, or beat a good player in ping pong, or stick a dive, or do really good in a video game etc. :

what would give you the best chance of winning the 10 million dollars?

1. wait till the night before and try to practice then.
2. no practice just wing it.
3. 1 minute practice every day.
4. practice 30 mimutes one day and then sporadically 30 minutes in 4 days.
5. practice 2 hours every single day
6. practice 10 minutes every single day
7. practice 3 hours every single day .

of course practicing 3 hours every day you have the best chance.

the dificult parts are believing that if you do the practice you will suceed. and then getting yourself do work every day to do the practice for hours every day. that's extremly difficult but it helps to be sure that if you do the practice you will suceed. but just believing wont do it. it's very difficult to change habits and work so hard focused for hours every day one one thing or to work hard for hours every day at all

why would it be different for practically almost anything else?

for the gun method just a lot contigious practice every day dry firing the gun .

dry firing means firing the gun with no bullets or ammunition for practice.

so one can continually practice dry firing looking in the mirror until this becomes automatic.

as with any practice the more minutes consecutively without breaks the better.

10 minutes total only doing it nothing else is better than 1 minute . but as much as one can do

the main thing in dry firing is moving the trigger only without moving the gun or body. everything stays perfectly still only the trigger moves slowly . thats one repeition. then keep doing it .

look in mirror or camera to see if aim is correct. hold gun down with hands . pick up gun . aim. hold still. dry fire. then keep doing that for as long as you can for 10 minutes or an hour. and must be done every day.

you have to hold the gun firmly. start out slowly pulling the trigger.

That's what I do but I record myself to make sure my aim is right. But I also make the barrel touch my ear before I move it up.

I just don't feel these types of measures are necessary. We're not reinventing the wheel here. Using a firearm has been a successful means of ctb, literally, at least, hundreds of thousands of times. I think it's being way over thought.
