I'm having a cr*ppy time with getting any health insurance right now.

I moved 1,200 miles away from my hometown, for a more accepting environment and health care access. Imagine if after all that I'm just scr*wed because I don't have the money to medically transition.

I was planning to work out all my goals over the course of several years, about 4, as that's a realistic timeframe for everything. But if there's just no way to achieve one of the goals, it's over already. I may be looking to CTB in the next month or so depending on how this turns out.

This really sucks! I'm very sorry you're having to go through all this.

If you don't mind me asking, what is preventing you from getting insurance?

sending you hugs and love Puella, i'm sorry that it is such a high hurdle right now. i understand not having access to health care and having to postpone plans because of it. It's soooo frustrating!
I don't know where you are located, but around me we have these nifty places called Planned Parenthood and they have been incredible helpful with getting me hormones and such.
If you want to talk more just send me a DM!

I have to get accepted for health care funded by the state, because I don't have a job or money to pay for health insurance of my own.

Somehow I get the feeling you might be from the US. Their healthcare system is overpriced and has a poor network range. The insurance plans don't tend to cover specialist procedures.

I personally hope it doesn't come to that, but I completely understand if it does. Healthcare in this country is an absolute joke, you have to jump through so many hoops to get it, and even if you have insurance you can still end up with a huge bill for what amounts to subpar care.

You have a kind and beautiful soul. I hope you're able to find peace one way or another.

Is there any reason that they wouldn't approve you? When I was living with my parents and they were getting me a social worker to help me get a job I was forced into applying for state healthcare despite the fact that I already had health insurance through my parents and I was accepted because I had 0 income. It didn't matter that my parents made money, just that I didn't. I feel like if anything you'd be way more eligible than I was.

Is the a waiting period or residency requirement, or just good old-fashioned red tape?

I see @puella confirmed it, but that was my thought too. Had to be US because 1) had to move 1200 miles from home to be accepted and 2) health insurance is a disaster.

The denial of proper healthcare is an horrible thing to go through, especially when you need it so much.

The current system and the people in charge of it deny the basic living rights of people, yet they also deny the right to dying. It's a cruel joke.

Where I'm from, public healthcare is covered by my parent's taxes until I'm 26 - which is better than the US, but still - if I were an orphan, or if my parents didn't work, or if I'm unable to work due to undiagnosed disabilities and disadvantages, then the powers in charge have decided that you are not deserving of healthcare, since everything in this current hellscape we live in depends on whether rich cunts or the state can make profit off it or not.

I probably won't even reach the age of 26, so whatever... Even if I finally could muster the courage to medically transition, I'd be put in a waiting list for years, and my healthcare could be cut off by the time that arrives, since I'm really unable to find a job: hundreds of applications over the course of a year, and the response is always the same.

I was planning to work out all my goals over the course of several years, about 4, as that's a realistic timeframe for everything. But if there's just no way to achieve one of the goals, it's over already. I may be looking to CTB in the next month or so depending on how this turns out.

I'm sorry that reaching these goals is so difficult right now - nobody should suffer because a lack of a job or money. It's so infuriating and frustrating. Whatever you decide, all options are valid.

You are kind, and amazingly strong to have gone through all this so far. ♥

Hey, love. I'm sorry to hear you're struggling a lot right now. Moving so far away from a place you're used to is super difficult even without crossing borders. If you've already moved so far I'm assuming Canada wasn't an option you were able to or willing to explore. Are there any support groups in your area? If not, are there any groups you could volunteer with to begin building a stronger support network? I've just started doing that myself recently and omg it's... it can be difficult. But when it pays off it REALLY pays off. Feel free to reach out when you need to talk. I hope you're having a somewhat peaceful time rn :) 💜💜
