Have you ever suspected that a member uses an alt-account in this forum?

I am not sure how easy or likely that is. But I recently got a weird private message. I ignored it but I looked into that account. And I think there are some parallels with another user. The writing style is similar, also in some sense the content which was posted. Moreover both accounts were created in the same week.


I think I might should not waste much time to think about it. I mean there is no real benefit. I don't have a smoking gun. There are some parallels but I think I should not report it without real substantive evidences.

Not sure how to proceed. Maybe I will further watch these two accounts on my own. I don't want to accuse someone for nothing.


I think it is forbidden to have an alt-account and both accounts would get banned. I always wondered how some people knew that other people had alt-accounts. I think many people recognize that during private conversations. I usually avoid private conversations as good as possible. When some people were banned some members told straightaway the names of their alt-accounts. I was astonished by that.

I am not sure how difficult it is to circumvent the rule that there are no VPNs allowed for registration.

What is your stance about it? Have you ever had the feeling a member on here might had an alt-account?

I only remember the case of a troll that apparently had more than one account, It use them to expose the "doxxing" that it made to another user, I think it was just a troll but that was never clear to me, after reporting it the thread was brutally diverted, we talk about what impossible pet we would like to have until it was deleted. We make the best of a nasty situation I guess.

There have always been trolls here. I wouldn't be surprised at all to find out someone has an alt account.

What a waste of time in my opinion but I guess some people like to live like that. I have to remind myself that some people are just bad.

Not an alt account per say, but I have sometimes wondered if someone that got banned recently rejoined soon after on a new account, based on how odd they were and the way they typed. This was a long time ago though and the thought just passed through my head once pretty briefly.

It seems like these days a lot of people use this site as a social media gossip type website. I doubt that people who want to ctb and are really suffering would spend a lot of time thinking about this topic.
