How long did you go laying in bed?

The consequences of my mistakes are killing me (no pun intended). For the first time in I don't know how long, I lay in bed all day today. I got up to walk my dog and got up a few other times to let her go potty and feed her, yet it doesn't feel like I really did those things. Weird, sense of being in like a nightmarish state. I dozed on and off, every time I woke had to be reminded of the situation I'm in and couldn't wait to fall asleep again to forget it.

Finally I got up to submit my paper for grad school. Today is my deadline to make my last payment for the semester and I want to cry. I worked really hard. I'm not a naturally smart person, I need to spend time on assignments and new material. What a waste. I have no job. I am going to run out of money. I didn't eat today to save money. I drank enough water though. I'll have some milk tomorrow.

I had to remind myself to play with the dog, pet the dog. Not fair to her. I'll do better tomorrow.

Anyway thanks for letting me vent. I would like to hear about your experiences if you've stayed in bed for day/s?

Staying in bed all day is fairly common for people who are depressed. I think many of us can relate to you in atleast that aspect. I'm sorry you're having such a rough time financially. :aw:

I'm atleast glad to hear that you have a furry friend and it sounds like you take good care of em too. You don't have to apologize for venting and you're always welcome to do so here.

I hope grad school is going well for you. If you ever need to vent or talk we're all here for you. My inbox is open to you and anyone who needs it as well! I hope things look up for you a bit!

Last summer I was stuck in the bef. I was so warn out that I barely moved. I only got up when I had to. Idk why I was that exhausted for almost the entire summer.

But having a pet is good for you. It makes you get up to take care of her. And I had to go without eating a few times to save money. Nothing wrong with that. And as long as you're doing your best in school don't stress yourself over it.

If you need to vent we're here.

Yes. Sometimes 22 hours a day.

Money has never been an object for me. But that means I drink myself to sleep. Sometimes I wake up, chug what's left of my whiskey and pass out again. I feel like I hide my problem pretty well but I'm sure my housemates know given the amount of whiskey and wine bottles in the bin.

Sleep is great. Because you're not feeling anything. Laying in bed awake though drives me insane.

When my illness ME/CFS got triggered I was bed-ridden for months. I had several episodes where I lost my mind.

Goddam it... The things we go through...

That was years ago, though. I look back on that time as the worst moments of my life.

Pretty common with depression, whatever the cause. It can really mess you up though. When I first became ill, I was very depressed more than anything and I stayed in bed all day. After a few days I started to suffer from post-postural drop, where your blood pressure plummets when you stand up and you get really dizzy.

You are in a tough situation  it's really good that you are still caring for your dog though. Having a companion like that can do wonders to motivate you.

Laying in bed is bliss.
No worries.
No effort.
Not even thoughts.
Just there, bundled in your own little corner of a big, painful, horrible world.

I stay in bed til midday sometimes. When I'm scared to get up. I have stayed in bed longer. I love making a nest in my bed with my duvet and pillow and snuggling down. I hate having to get up. I fell a real sense of dread most of the time when I have to get up. I can't stay in bed longer because I have animals that I look after. Sometimes I feed my cats and go back to bed. Depression and anxiety make me want to sleep forever. Dreamless warm dark sleep.

When I was well, I used to have two alarm clocks, one set two hours before the one I needed to actually pay attention to. I did this to wake myself up so i'd drift back to sleep. I found that in this 2 hour slot I bad more vivid hypnogogic dreams. I also used to keep a dream journal and had techniques of remembering the dreams to write them down. I had to give it up because it was taking up too much time, but it was a fascinating world of dreams and one I longed to return to.

It's been three years of that now, I practically live in my bed and don't leave home often. Sometimes I take my old medications to sleep as much as possible because being awake is painful.

I only got out of bed about an hour ago and that is early for me. I have been doing this for about 2 years now and the situation has reached the point that my Mum has to come by every day to do my washing and cook food or I will starve to death, this despite that fact that I can cook really well.

The only time I leave my flat is to buy alcohol. I buy a litre of vodka and start drinking it in the afternoon until I pass out and then whenever I wake up I neck the bottle until I pass out again. There are curious looks from other tenants in these flats whenever they see me and they sometimes ask my Mum what I do for a living as I seldom see any of them during daytime hours.

My super successful sister pretty much disowned me about 18 months ago; she made the arduous journey here from London and started yapping on about how a grown man shouldn't be loafing around in bed all day. I told her that I was pupating and that she was interfering with the process. Things went downhill from there, she had the last (swear) word, I haven't heard from her since then.

I would strongly recommend not doing this if at all possible. It is a very easy habit to pick up and doesn't get you anywhere.

Yes, staying in bed, sleeping as long as possible means don't have to experience the depression.

This is me. All over. But i don't have someone looking after me. I just pretend I'm okay for the good of others. Cheers brother.

The worst I ever stayed in/around a bed was 9 months after graduating college. I couldn't find a job in my field and it crushed me. I stayed in a room and only came out to eat and use the restroom, occasionally bathe. My hair turned into partial dreds because I had refused to brush them. The people I lived with didn't want to bother me so they never came near my room.

No, actually I haven't spent a whole day in bed. I usually have to get up when I wake. I do regular oversleep on weekends. Sometimes I would sleep 13 or 14 hours.

Also currently struggling to do much beyond get out of bed. It's been like this for 6 months and I barely eat. Honestly makes me feel even more worthless than I already am sure that I am.

If my cpu was in my bedroom, I would but no I spend all day on the couch instead. Normally sleep for around 10-12 hrs a day though including a nap or two.

I've felt dread every day getting out of bed for as long as I can remember.

Used to stay in bed for days though I think 3 was my max (amateur compared to some of you I know). A friend asked me once what the trigger was to get up after days in bed. I honestly don't know. I couldn't answer him

Until a few weeks ago, never. About 4 or 5 weeks ago I spent the best part of a week in bed, only getting up to eat (junk, mainly) and use the toilet.

I hate staying in bed all day, but when I have an especially bad day I just lay in bed all day and dissociate. I've also taken quite a few shots of Zzzquil to knock me out so I sleep all day. My doctor doesn't approve of me "sleeping the day away".
